I personally am satisfied with the way my car is now. I mean.. we have a very uncommon car, there isn't one sharp line on it, and I don't know how many times I come out of a store and have people looking at it. If I only had 1000 dollars to put into my Celi I would lower it, get some DCW blocks and Sway bars. I wouldn't touch the engine. I know our cars are slow, but dear god appreciate what you have!

I don't think the celica is a bad car in context. my 5S just rolled over 175k and it'll still turn over in sub-zero temperatures without a hitch. That's a good car. It's also on its 11th winter (without garage) and the body rot is ZERO... that is a good car. None of the mechanicals or electronics have failed yet. The paint is still vibrant. The interior upholstery hasn't torn. And the odd thing is I'm not even all that nice to my car.

The celica is a mircale if it can hold up that well after a decade.

Might not be fast, might not handle the best anymore, but if that's why you got it, then you made a bad choice.

The cup holders suck, though.

edit--oh yeah, plus the sexy thing. people always stare at the car and admire it. "is that new" "must've cost you a leg" bla bla. Lets see your EVO get that kind of attention. A celica is a car anyone can appreciate. You'd be suprised how many people believe me when I jokingly tell them I spent $28,000 when I brought the car.

soulshadow... you swaped in a 4age, what did you expect? its only about 40hp more then stock. if you wanted more power, you would have swaped in something with more power and potential.

It's pointless for me to make an intelligent response... so I'll just quote the truth...

As a counterargument i have to say that 94-99 CELICA IS THE BEST MODDING PLATFORM!
why? multiple reasons

1. It is quite unique, with some rims sideskirts and a hood or bumper the celi looks waaayy better than any sti or evo box on wheels, and indeed celi gets more attention

2. It can bear 3s-gte inside giving it an ultimate potential... there were 3sgte with 650, 700, even 900 hp, now think of "just" 350 hp daily driver? so what it is not awd...

3. there is very little aftermarket junk for 6gen? that makes it more of a challenge, which in turn = more satisfaction... if you had a civic and put a cai on it would you feel special at all? laugh.gif

4. 6gcs are plain beautiful... even more so than supras in my opinion... and smaller insurance payment!!!
plus the 6gc community is always willing to help anyone

for the same money you put into modding your celi, you could afford a newer, faster, more reliable car? so what? that car will not be as unique, as beautiful and as satisfactory to build than a celi!! not in my book...

besides modding is all about being able to say (brag) that you have an ultimate 100% reliable+efficient turbo set up, or weight distribution better than any other car etc... anyone can slap a 150 shot of nitrous from a kit on a mustang... hovewer it takes a lot of knowledge and effort to make celi gain even 40 hp

I like improving my car...not only the power...you are buying something and you just CANT wait to install it...FEEL IT!!!
Modifying a car doesnt mean that you are always looking for power but its a combination of different things...

1.Look
2.Power
3.Handling
4.ICE
5.....for some others..
6.....for some others...

I'm modifying my car beacuse it makes me getting closer to it,to drive it ALL the time, travelling to mountains every weekend!!That means that i have to take a lot of corners with different angle or speed each time, thats the relationship between me and my car, thats the the relationship between me and the Modding World!!!

I agree that it is expensive...but i think that HEALTH its above ALL and after that OUR hobbies smile.gif

The Celi is a good car to mod based on looks and rarity, but on the basis of it being front wheel drive and having a limited aftermarket it is a bad base to start to mod. For example, if you want to put a 3sgte in the car it will work, be fast, etc. But a front wheel drive car isn't exactly the best for all out racing. I looked into doing a swap myself, or turbocharging, but I don't want to dump that kind of money into a front wheel drive car, especially one that would be driven every day.

Honestly...idk how you guys could dump 30k into a car like this, I would much rather go buy a car that has 10x the potential for less than that

ok when i first bought the celica....3 years or so ago i wanted to mod it like crazy....i mean lets be honest, civics can beat us stock. but i ill be honest i bought this car based only on looks, i knew nothing of the power. the celica has some of the best looks of a sports coupe ever!!

but it is slow, but its nothing a little research and alot of hard work cant fix. in my situation its not in my best interest to spend 3-7k on a motor swap.

yes speed and power are a big issue but the celica is not for that if you dont have time or money

i have a 300hp 350z sitting in my garage and thats enough power for me....for now at least , but the celica still looks just as good as my z and people DO turn and look at the celica still.

as of right now the power cravings are done .......for the moment at least. i do plan on turboing the z eventually.

i have no plans of getting rid of the celica because i will always love that car

i guess what im trying to say is, if you want cheap power without any work or research or creativity even...buy a civic si/rsx/srt-4/gti....these cars are all factory "fast" and are very easily modded, i know not everyone can afford a z or an evo or a sti, but there are other alternatives....just dont expect the celica to be a 12 sec car without some hard work

If you're getting beat by civics then you're not doing something right. There's no civic short of a 1998+ Si that can beat me stock for stock, and lets face it, there aren't many of those around. Even the Integra GS's aren't as fast.

This must be easy to say for a guy who found a GEM of a 6gc on ebay with all the eninge, exterior, and suspension work done to a point many of us dream of. Just giving you a hard time biggrin.gif

soulshadow... you swaped in a 4age, what did you expect? its only about 40hp more then stock. if you wanted more power, you would have swaped in something with more power and potential.

well first of all:
1.) Im not a mechanic
2.) Im not that rich
3.) I have an ST not a GT
4.) I don't know how to wield
5.) I don't have the tools
6.) I wanted to do it myself
7.) I thought It would be easy.....
8.) .......you get the picture

1. neither am i, or any of the other guys on this site
2. ok
3. what difference does that make? you can still swap in any engine into it
4. you mean weld? i dont know any swap that requires welding.
5. a basic craftsman toolset and an engine lift is all you need. how did you get your 4age swap done then?
6.7.8. i dont really understand what you mean by that?

all i was trying to say is that if you wanted a fast celica with lots of potential, then why did you choose an NA motor that is only 40hp more then your 7a? you could have put in a 3s that bone stock would give you 100hp more, with the potential to make even more power later on, just with a simple turbo upgrade. its not the celicas fault your not happy with the power of your swaped motor

I think im hella late on responding to this thread but i would just like to say something....

I dont think htere is a prize out there for modding your car. You can spend all the time and money into your car ans still get no respect/attention/fame. If thats what your after then your in it for the wrong reasons. Sure you can build a fast car and be the fastest, but someone will come and be faster. You can have the best looking car, and again someone will come and look better.

I've been tunning my celica since high skool and since then i've been in carshows and been rolling with a car team. Half the time no one knows what my car is. i dont care. i do it because i have fun. Sure i could go buy myself alot of lap dances and alot of alcohol with the money put into the celica, but then that would just make me a perverted alcoholic. ha

YES THIS POST HAS BEEN POINTLESS.

why did u swap in a 4a? u should have just turbo'ed ur 7a.

soulshadow, look, if you dont like the 4age then give it to me and i'll appreciate it for what it is. buy a mclaren f1 and if that doesnt do it for ya, then like someone here said, learn to fly a jet. lol. so what if a ricey civic beats you? who looks better crossing the finish line and gets all the bitches? ok then.
