Change cluster lights to blue Options

Hey guys,

I just wanted to know how to change my cluster lights to blue. The information part of this site is down so I can't check it out. Can anyone help me?

i did mine by ordering 3x 5led matrix bulbs off of autolumination.com. i did it last march i think. but anyways one of them just developed a short, and the newer 5led matrix bulbs hang over the sides so much more that they won't fit. i've got some inverted lens and oval lens leds on order and will try both of them next week when they get here.

as for getting in there. here's my local copy of Coomer's write up. the only thing i might add is that it seems the blue wire harness on the left side of the cluster (for my us domestic model at least) is the one that supplies the back-lights with power.

Required Tools:
Philips head screwdriver
Ratchet with philips head bit or short philips head screwdriver
3 Type-194 Colored Light Bulbs

If you want to change the color of your guage cluster lights from the stock green color, you can follow these instructions.

First, pop off the long plastic cover piece that goes around the ignition keyhole and over the steering column. It just pops right off. You'll need to disconnect the wiring harness for the dimmer knob. Next, you need to remove four screws so that you can remove the curved plastic piece that goes over the guage cluster. Two of the screws are in the top of the plastic part and will require a very short philips head screwdriver or a ratchet with a philips head screwdriver bit in it. Once the four screws have been removed, you'll need to pull out this plastic piece.

Next, find the four screws that go through the white plastic piece of the guage cluster and remove these screws. Now the guage cluster should be loose, and you'll need to reach behind the guage cluster and remove three wiring harnesses from the back of the cluster. Once the harnesses are removed, you need to take off the top cover on the steering column, so that you can get the guage cluster out of the car. To take off the top cover, move the steering wheel a quarter turn to the left and you'll see a screw. Remove that screw, and then remove the one on the right side as well. Then the top cover of the steering column just pops right off. Now you need to manuver the guage cluster out of the dash, which can be somewhat tricky.

Once the guage cluster is out of the car, take a look at the back of it, where all the green plastic material stuff is. You'll see many light sockets that twist out. Just take out the three biggest ones by twisting them out. Once the sockets are out, pull out the old bulbs and green covers, and replace it with the colored bulbs of your choice. Once the new bulbs are in the sockets, simply insert them back into the back of the guage cluster and put everything back together. Once everything is back together, admire your guages at night when it's dark out. Mine are noticably brighter than stock and have a much better color to them.

I didnt used LED.
I used blue globes.
The globe are called Polarg.
They are made in Japan.

I have a set of hyper white LED's that you could buy from me. i bought them to see if it would work for my customized red gauges, but i need regular LED white. Just a thought.

hey if those bulbs are the 194s i might be interested...what brand are they? i just got my clear sidemarkers put on, and im looking to put some white bulbs in there.

Why do you want regular white over the hyperwhites? And how many led's are they? What orientation? (ie. matrix? inverse cone?)

There EUROLITE they are white/blue there is two little circles for each LED bulb and ones white and the others blue so it kinda makes it look hyper white they are 194's and will fit in park lights. I need regular Bright White LED's because with my gauge cluster im putting them in and taking red lense mask tape and putting them over my numbers so my numbers and lines will be red and all my needles will be bright white. if you look in my gauge cluster topic you will see a pic i posted of borgche's gauge lights thats what they will look like. I'm either gonna try selling them or taking them back to see if i can get them to order me regular white ones. Let me know if you guys are interested i can take pics tomorrow I have 4 of them.

has anybody does this recently, do those bulbs still not fit very well? or does anybody know bulbs that will fit fine, im looking to do this very soon and was just checking up on the details when i noticed that some people have been having problems.

I used some multi directional led's it had like 5 going seperate directions and one in the center
