I'm a little confused.... it use to be that my e-brake light on the gauges only came on when my ebrake was set. As of recently - every time i brake hard - my ebrake light comes on in the cluster.... without the e-brake engaged. This is confusing the crap outta me... i thought it might be some signal to change brake fluid or something - anyone else have this problem before?

that light comes on for 2 reasons. 1 is the ebrake and 2 is to tell you your brake fluid is low.
pop the hood and take a look at the brake fluid level. if it is low, get the car checked out to find the source of the leak. normally brake fluid should never go low on its own, and it it totally leaks out, you will have no brakes at all. -------------------- 15PSI - 30MPG - Megasquirt Tuned

The fact it comes on during hard braking suggests it's the fluid, since it would slosh around.
If your fluid is full and the bobber to which the sensor is attached moves freely, the sensor on your actual e-brake handle may be loose. |

Actually if your leaking pressure from the vaccum hose to the brake cylinder, it does that too. In other words, if there is a leak in pressure the brake comes on too. My car did that the other day and you can hear the vaccum sucking up air as the car was rolling. It scared the crap outta me too, cause I just finished installing some Subs and Amp, but make sure that you got lots of fluids and your hoses are not damaged.

I've officially got my problem fixed..... my pads were almost non-existent
i was also fairly low on brake fluid - fixed both of those problems and now she's back to driving like a dream..... well sort of (besides the fact that it's still slow as poo) -------------------- |
