Need some help..., going to buy Tein SS coilovers Options

I am going to buy tein super street damping coilovers for my car soon. I need to know if I am going to need other supplies besides what comes with the kit. After the coilovers are installed, is there going to be any problems having the car aligned? I do not know much about suspension, so please bare with me. I will also be adding 17"x7" Falken Torque 5 rims, with a offset of 40... I want to get the rear tires almost even with the wheel wells. What size tires(falken tires) and spacers should I get to do this? Also, does anyone know where I can find Tein SS coilovers at a good price($1200 or less)? Any help or opinions would be great. This is my second post on this site, but ive been watching all you guys for over 6 months now. I think this is the best celica site out there, and i believe this is where all the tallent is.

That offset won't sit the wheels flush to the fender (something like 32-35mm will). It'll still be tucked in. IMO... if you don't plan on racing... you shouldn't spend 1200 for suspension you'll only use for "looking lowered". Buy some ground controls and call it good if you want coilovers... otherwise some lowering springs is plently. FYI... full coilover suspension doesn't make the car ride better lower... it'll ride rougher because the spring rates and dampening isn't designed for mild street use.

I do not plan on going to the track more than a few hours a month. I do not really just want the "lowered look" I would like to have some what better handling over stock. My stock struts are nearly shot, I need to do something. It needs to be lowered with the new wheels, im not going to drive around looking all funny. Can you please recomend a good strut/coilover set up? I really want to go with the Torque 5 wheels, the only 17" I can find are 7" wide with a 40 offset. Are there any spacers that will push it out close to being flush with the wheel well? Sorry if I sound like a newb, but I want a nice "clean and sporty" stance on the car. Anyway, thanks for the help, and opinions.

Yeah. IDEALLY our Celicas have flush wheels when the offset is 35, so get a 5mm spacer. As for tires, go with 225 40 (or 45) 17's. For coilovers and struts, I personally wouldn't go with Ground Control because they have a tendency to fall apart (friend's Sentra has gone through 4 pairs under street driving) however my friend told me they have some sort of warrantee, not sure on their basic coilovers. If you want a good stance without sacrificing handling I would recommend TEIN s-tech lowering springs, which will give you about 1.5" lower in the front and about 1" in the back. As for struts, many people here use KYB GR-2's, but there are also Koni Yellow's and a few other that escape me at the moment..

I have to disagree with Kwanza about the Tein SS....I have a set installed on my Celica and its fantastic for daily driving, even on horrible New Jersey roads. The balanced spring rate and shock adjustability feature allow you to dial in a very comfortable setting even when they're agressively lowered and aren't just for track driving. However, I imagine they would be superior when tightened up for such circumstances.

I bought them from a member for a good price, so I jumped on it and the handling competency and adjustability of the Tein Super Street coilovers is beautiful. It totally changed the nature of the car, and it can handle rough roads well when on softer settings and handle like few cars I've driven when stiffer settings are used. Definately worth even more than I bought them for.

If you can find a good deal on them and want the best for your money, get the Tein colovers. Otherwise, Tein's S-Tech springs and KYB's are a great choice for the money. You can't go wrong with either, but just know what your goals are and how well you want your car to handle before you put forth the money.
