Well I'm happy to see a good response. The competition idea is pretty cool, I would host that if my shop was bigger.

As far as all you guys who are talking about donating your car, who's really serious? You would still have to pay for the swap, but the labor would only be $500.

I would like to do an ST, but we could always do a GT now and an ST down the road....

i have 5,000 dollars and an st

Hmmmm.....Doc, I've talked to you already in planning a swap for this up comming year, so maybe for times sake we could make it a GT vs. GT swapathon. smile.gif I'm totally in for something like this, I think its a great idea. So consider me a swap candidate in this battle. wink.gif

We should lay out some ground rules here and make sure we know what is involved in such an undertaking. But totally possible if we get enough hands to show up.

It should read something like....."6GC Presents....The First Annual Swapathon 2006". I think the idea kicks ass. Lets do it. laugh.gif

i would assume the motor drop would count as thats 1/4 of the work needed to be done...

but charging 500$ for free labor is just retarded.....i say the owner of the car must buy all the parts...and labor is free since well if your not paying the contestants then your just pocketing money for doing nothing and thats wrong....

I'd be willing to wield a camera while guys are doing the swap. I don't have a video camera (yet) or if someone would have one to provide that would be awesome too. This sounds like it could be a ton of fun.

umm whats the point in doing it in 24hrs? id rather take my time and do it right, instead of having something just thrown in there.

and like dustin said, you would really have to make sure you have a full check list of parts and **** ready cause normally its something small that creates the big hold ups.

i'm seriously up for this if it goes down....but it defenitly could be done in under 24hours if you had a decently sized team (say 6 people) that each had knowledge

aka 1-2 people to do wiring

4 people to install, drop, swap

psst Dan you forgot 1 person to stand around and look pretty... confused. rolleyes.gif tongue.gif

I think this would be awesome. Now we will have the 3sgte rebuilt before the swap correct?

No kidding, eh?

Well I think it's cool that there's so much interest. I ran it by my wife today (who's the realist among us), and she actually thought it would be a good idea.

Anyway, I think a lot of you missed the original point. The idea is for Phoenix Tuning to do a swap in 24 hours. I would need someone to bring their car up for the swap, to pay for the parts and labor (yes, $500 of MY LABOR), someone to run a good video camera, and several people to fool around and make it more fun. At least, that was the ORIGINAL idea.

This whole idea of having a competition is pretty cool too though. I would be interested in doing it, but it would take a lot more planning, and we would need a larger shop than mine, I think.

Let's take this one step at a time though. Who has a video camera and knows how to run it?
