This is a weird question but i had a bad alternator when i bought it so i got it replaced and its draining the battery im thinking it has something to do with it not being a toyota alternator has this happend to anyone else?

Also would any toyota alternator fit my car because i am about to go get one from a junkyard?

no not all toyota alts. fit.....and i doubt its because its from a different company....

alternators don't drain a battery though...they only put power to the battery....my suggestion is have your battery checked cause thats more likely the cause that its dead and not holding charge

Yeah right b4 i got the new alt i got a brand new battery and i was talking to my cousin that works at a dealrship and he said that this is a common thing he said if its not toyota he is alwaysd replacing them every couple of months. And i even talked to a toyota specialist that owns a after market shop and he said he would never put any alt in a toyota unless its a toyota one, b/c he has had the same problem.

And im pretty sure its the alt. b/c when ever i pull up to a red light all my gages and headlights dim untill i start giving it gas. So i would guess that its not the batery.

i had this problem before.. but it wasn't the alt. it was the cables where lose.. so the alt wasn't recharing the batt. at full power ... check the the wires the clip on to the alt... also check that you don't have any oxidation(sp) on your batt. cables...

Is there such a thing as a Toyota alternator? Or does he mean OEM? I figured the alternator would be from a supplier like the other accessories like NGK plugs or NipponDenso A/C compressors.
