I got the actual seat part out but the back rest seams to be bolted to the car somewhere, any suggestions?

i dont have a convertiable but on mine they came right out when i folded them down after i unbolted the bottom half

fold the seats down and yank em off the bottom. dont yank em, but u know what i mean. pull them off the floor. or vice versa.

fold the seats down, and unbolt them. THere is like two bolts. The cushion on the seats are actually just sitting there, put they have retainer locks that you just have to pull out first.

Theres 4 bolts that bolt to the brace on the top half. The bottom half just pulls out.

i know your trying to do the right thing for your motor, but this is one of those times where you should just trust the guys who have had their swaps for a while and have done a ton of research into this.
