Congrats Lagos.
It's funny how it is the same for many countries. Here in Russia you need to pass technical inspection each year for it to be road legal. It's kinda hard doing that on a JDM with lights working differently and all the other little stuff.
But $100 plus the right person - and you get your sticker delivered to your door biggrin.gif

No tests in my area. Some times it pays to live in the sticks.

no emissions testing here... we just need to get our cars safetied... which includes checking if seat belts work, all lights/signals, tires, brakes, suspension, etc.... the simple stuff! oh and no body holes (rust) that one is pretty common out here because of all the sand/salt they use on the roads in winter. biggrin.gif

congrats though Lagos! your car is awesome.

I'll sell mine out of the celi. Good til march 06 :-P

I dont think they even did emissions when I took mine for inspection. Horn, lights, brakes, ..... bald tires, exhaust leaks, done.

Hes like, just go get the tires replaced, and heres your sticker.

If anyone needs interior stuff, etc, I'm parting whats left of my celi out. Just ask.

I guess I am lucky here in New Mexico. We have no emissions tests, safety, etc. Good thing too, I am running open headers on my '87 celica. If they had something like that here, 3/4ths of the people would fail lol. Gratz Lagos, and keep on boosting smile.gif

Blah, PA tags. I guess it's so people can't steal your stickers.

I've heard of people scanning some, photo shopping them and taping them in their windshield with scotch tape rolleyes.gif

we have 3 stickers here. the one on your rear plate is to tell that your registration is current. its basically really small and just has a cetain color for that year and a date printed on it. you get it in the mail every year after you pay them 35$ or so .

then there are 2 in the window. one is for safety type of stuff, like brakes, tires and the other one is for your tail pipe emissions. you have to take the car to a certified shop and it normally costs about 65$ plus, any parts and laybor you might have needed if your car failed inspection. oh...and you have to show them proof of insurance and registration for the current year, before the test or you dont pass regardless of you car.

i would have failed the emissions part of the test because i do not have any cats on the car. the cats are what help keep the polution numbers in check, but they also rob you of a lot of hp on a turbo car.

so you guys are saying that a jdm 3sgte wont pass emissions regardless? no matter what you do to it? would it be the same for a 3sge beams? now im actually having second thoughts of getting a 3sgte....not really! but now theres an obstacle in the way.....

a JDM engine does not have EGR, therefore, if you have strict emmisons testing in your area, it can fail on that reason alone.
there have been people who have passed the tailpipe sniffer with good working cats on a JDM engine, in states that are not as strict as CA for example.
