yes that works perfectly until the other insurance company who is paying to fix will not cover your car because they come to realise that the car has a swapped vin on it and that the car is not street legal, in which the case you are intitled to NOTHING seeing as you have a fraudulant insurance claim for a car that isnt supposed to be driven on public roads in the first place...

that's part of the risk you have to take i guess. but i think unless it is a serious accident, the cost of fixing will pretty much be the same. lets say fneder bender will be the same even if it's a gt4.
to reduce the risk, leave it in your garage like all those other show cars. use it as a sunday driver and show off your car to night cats

well thats if they find out, and how would they know if its street legal? Guess they would have to run that crash test on it to find out tongue.gif.

and how would they know you swapped the vin?, The last times i took my cars into the estimator they always asked me the vin number, they never looked, In both cases i was too lazy to get my registration and just told them to find it on the body.

And there is only one place left that has my vin number, everything else is painted over or has been replaced....

There will be problems, but I dont think they're will not be insurmountable

i would assume that the insurance company would find out if the accident did any kind of damage to the suspention for one- its completely different from US celicas, seeing as its Super Strut. Unless the accident were purely body pannels chances are you would have to fix somthing that isnt on a US celica. The front end would be a perfect example- not just the bumper and hood, but the intercooler would be quite vulnerable. cosmetically anything from the winshild back is the same, but mechanically, next to nothing is shared...

ok look what i found

If you are in the US :

Firstly, the Japanese specifications (JDM) vehicle is a Right Hand Drive model. We are sorry to say that it is very difficult to import it into the US at present.
Unless you wish to present crash test data for any Right Hand Drive car, it cannot legally be imported to the US. And we do not support to present crash test data.

It may be possible to import of some JDM cars under regulations regulating these cars to race(competition) use only.
Race cars cannot be registered for street use.

As for the Skyline GTR, it is possible to import the only Skyline GTR into the US for street use although it is necessary to legalize the skyline to use it on the US road. The cost to legalize a Skyline GTR depends on the year of vehicles. There are also some conditions on some of the year models and where they are coming . But generally, the legalizing cost of a Skyline is
1990~ R32 Skyline GTR - around 16,000USD.
1995 R33 Skyline GTR - around 17,000USD.
1996~ R33 Skyline GTR - around 25,000USD (OBD2 system).
1999~ R34 Skyline GTR - around 25,000USD (OBD2 system).

Also, it is possible to import some old JDM vehicles (25 year or old) into the US.

In canada is 15 year (rumor about 25yr soon) It's have lot of r32,fairlady,EG Sir2,GTi-R,180sx

Some mr2 turbo and st185 RHD for 7000-7500$.....I look for st185 for this winter if I'm able to put it in calcium

I wait oct. 2008 for import the first st205 in america
