Do u mean the 180 KPH speed limit??
There is one wire that feeds into the ECU via the Speed sensor on the tranny, it also connects to the Speedometer on your dash. Cut that wire that feeds into the ECU and there u go! U will get a check light tho. But what I found out is that when you hit Speed cut on your ecu, your pretty much close to redline cut anyways. So if you go at 120 MPH = 180 KPH. Your really close to rev cut limit. Its really pointless to cut it, but if you already have all the wires exposed go for it! That extra 10 MPH will do a little bit of good, but for a fact you will never go that fast on a straight lane. |

Speed cut is a speed limiter. You can buy a small electronic gismo very cheap that if you put into the afore mentioned "cut" wire, will convert the speedo from KMPH to MPH thus making the speed limiter come in at 180MPH instead of 180KMPH, which of course is a speed you`ll never reach.

Nope. My blitz box is a full delimit, as the car was already converted to MPH and they left the 112mph limiter in place.
I got mine from ebay, from fensport they are not cheap. -------------------- JDM ST205

This is only for ST Celicas, but it should give you a good idea.

Well all they did to my car when it was imported was change the signal that goes to the speedo to turn it to MPH, still on the origional ECU and I`ve had mine way past 120mph (on the track of course)

A bit off topic but this thread got me thinking, when im done with the 3sgte swap and assuming that all the wiring is correct, what will my usdm speedometer read? will it be accurate with mph or will it be inaccurate because the ecu thinks its reading in KPH? thanks This post has been edited by eggman40: Jan 2, 2006 - 9:11 PM |

I don't know about the speedo, but just to make sure, I swapped out the Speedo on the tranny of the 7A USDM verison with the Speedo on the 4age 20V tranny. They are both interchangeable, and I don't seem to have any problems. Not sure if the JDM speedo will work with a USDM Gauge. The wiring is basically the same as well as the speedo plug.

i think ive seen that you can put a switch on the speedo wire... just keep it on until you wanna go real fast them flip it off...i guess you will lose speedometer reading though

HKS has the SLD speed limit defencer. I really can't say much about how it works since the instructions are in Japanese. But I do know it will stop the ECU speed limiter and let you go passed 180Km/h
