so it was around 12 last night, and i was on my way to a friends house following a friend. we were on a street where there was NO ONE except for me, my friend, and i guess the cop. well at the turn that we were supposed to make he goes straight, so im thinking that he just missed the turn. i get into the turn lane, and the turn light is red. i see the cop behind me and get nervous. i try my best to not do anything wrong when i made the u-turn. but as soon as im done turning i get pulled over. having no idea wut i did wrong, i just tried to be polite. the cop says i didnt signal, but i swore i did. now im not even exactly sure because i was so nervous the entire time the cop was behind me. i have a bodykit, and an exhaust, (which were probably the things he noticed) and im pretty sure that he was already trying to get me for something. i didnt see the cop until i got into the turn lane, and i guess my friend saw the cop and went straight to turn into some complex to park. well the cop gets out and hes a total jerk. flashes his flashlight me in the car at me and my friend, and then directly in my eyes and then not asks, but demands license and registration. he then asks what im doing out this late and i tell him the truth. he obviously doesnt believe me and then goes back in his car to write me up. i mean its a turn signal violation, when i was in the turn lane and no one was even around. if anything i thought he would have warned me, but he went and wrote the ticket and everything. this sucks..im only 17 so i gotta go to traffic school to keep this off my record. so what do you guys think. should i even bother showing up to court?

Do the cops have cameras in their cars where you live? If you're sure you signaled you could contest it in court and subpoena the video tape.

It's usually not worth going through the hassle though. Go to traffic school pay the fine and be done with it. It sucks that there are a$$hat cops out there but it's something we all have to deal with at some point in time.

if you have a clean driving record and this is only your first ticket , you should go to court, the judge may only make you pay the ticket and not put any points on your record.

Dude, trust when I tell you (Ive been there many times) its not even worth the trouble at all to try and fight it, just go to court and pay the fine, and depending on the way it works over there, they will probly drop it from your record if it stays clean, after you turn 18

Apparently it was too loud.

Apparently!? A call like that isn't up to the cops discretion. They need a reading to prove it's too loud in order to give you a ticket.

As far as the other ticket, just pay it dude. If it's just your word against the cops, it's not worth fighting it, your going to lose. Here, if you show up and plead guily they just knock a bit off the fine, and your done.

actually they can. i got a ticket for that too before. these cops really like to pick on me and my car i guess. i guess the law says its up to the cops judgement as far as how loud it should be and whether its over the decible limit or not. what i did was take it to the referee station and get it tested for the decible limit. it ended up being under the legal limit, and they dropped the ticket.

sorry to hear that.. frown.gif ..it depends on where your located...but in sacramento if you have a passenger most likely you'll win (because you have a witness) biggrin.gif ...but then again just like what celicaGT96 said it's not really worth it and just pay the fine... biggrin.gif

here take my advice.

this isnt a big deal.

Save your PFJ.

go to court, dress nice, youll talk to an ADA ask her if she can either drop the charges or you can just pay the ticket. act like a nice little kid, Get your parents to go with you and act sorry theyll probably drop it.

most likely you wont talk to a judge just dress nice be respectful and act sorry.

thats iff it says you have to go to court on your license.

if it says you dont have to go to court just pay it. for a first offense they wont tell your insurance and you wont get points on your license.

best thing is to just call the ADA now and see if she can have it dropped.

point taken, u got the ticket end of story don't even bother to go to court cause you'll just end up wasting time. Pay the fine and get it over with. Just wat will u tell the judge? U were out at 12 AM following ur friend and a cop tailing you. U got so nervouse that u forgot to signal and made a u turn and got busted for it? the judge will just throw it out and make u pay for wasting his time as well.

Sucks to get puleld over, but you shouldn't be freaking out cause you got pulled over. You should be shaking with excitement and not fear!
