Hey guys, being hanging around for awhile. Let because I wasnt driving my car, but my new job requires it. Anyways my car has been vibrating recently. And when I mean vibrate I mean hard. it doesnt really vibrate say up to 40mph but after that it gets worse and worse. I have had a balance and an alignment, so its not those things. My guess was CV joint but I wanted your guys' take on it. THanks

When I bought my car, the previous owner hadn't kept up with tire rotations. This led to cupping wear of the rear tires. When I rotated them to the front because they were worn in a zig zag pattern at certain speeds I would get really bad vibrations. Ultimately I had to scrap the tires and buy new ones. You can check for this by removing your front tire and rolling it on a flat surface. If the wear is even it should roll by itself pretty well. If there is uneven wear then it will wobble and fall over almost immediately. Good luck!

Definatly check your tires and if those look to be in order then check your motor mounts possibly. One or more could be cracked.

hmm, well I purchased the tires, and had them rotated, but I will say that I didnt drive my car for a long while, maybe 6 months, and so the car sat in the same spot. could the tires have flat spots, although it seems that should have shown up when they balanced them

i think if it where motor mounts you would feel a vibration when ideling too, not as serious as when your going over 40 but a vibration none the less. Is it so bad that your steeting wheel is jerking left & right cause thats definatly a tire problem in my opinion.
my car used to vibrate and it was actually a part of my clutch "the fork arm piece" that was going bad.

good luck,

well it is definitely speed dependant, not nessessarily RPM, which seems to not be mounts. I will take a look at my tired.

little update, pulled the tires off to see how they rolled, and 1 looked a little funny, it also had 120 grams on the wheel, seemed like a lot. I rotated that tire to the back to see if it was any better. Havent driven it yet though

check your wheel bearings as those can be a cause...

jack up your car grab both sides of the tire and see if you can move it back and forth...with out actually turning the wheel....if you can your bearings are bad
