I've seen a lot of other automotive forums stating their state first and then the item on "for sale" sections. that would be easier for people, i think. most of the time people don't even state where they're from and it's annoying. Sometimes it takes weeks to have the person post their location. Doing this will give on-lookers an idea of where the item is from so they don't waste time clicking.

it's just an idea. if it works, great. if this posting is garbage, trash it. i'm just throwing it out there.

eg:

MN: JDM taillights
CA: Stock headlights
WI: Leather seats
NV: Cactus
NY: 1994 Celica GT

Most items in the FS sections are shippable, and if they aren't the seller usually says pick up only accompanied with there location.I agree with this on the sale of a car,but not parts...

I believe it would make more sense for all of the "for sale" section, not just vehicles. Though parts may be able to ship, it makes more sense to list a location first before waiting 3 weeks for it. Some people would prefer to know right away so they get dibs or some people would prefer shipping methods (on more rare parts). But like I stated, its just a suggestion. I see it as an organized and efficient way to browse through the section.

I agree that for cars for sale, it's most helpful, but for parts or whatever, not entirely necessary unless of course your profile thingie on the left doesn't say where you're located. It's kind of a common courtesy thing too, I know that when I sell stuff, lately I've been trying to include my ZIP code in the first post because honestly, it's a lot easier telling people where I'm shipping FROM than having a bunch of people ask me to look up shipping for them. Plus, like you said, then people know that I'm shipping from the west coast and it ain't gonna get to Pennsylvania or Europe in three days.

Thing about shipping.

Basic package usps can ship in under a week and their express packages can either overnight or deliver it in 2 days or so.
Basic package with ups/fedex/dhl/etc ships and their express packages can either overnight or deliver it in 2 days or so.
Basic package with a freight company (well they are all the same really) They ship whenever truck fills up so it may sit there in their warehouse for a little bit.
Basic package with a greyhound and other bus service (well they are the same really) is only limited by time it takes bust to go from one location to another but in either case requires delivery to greyhound and pickup from greyhound.

The only variable that has always caused delivery problems is the reliability of seller. They frequently find excuses not to ship the part out for a whole week and then use cheapest shipping package from the vendors.

Buyers are the ones to suffer... most of the time.

If it takes weeks for the person to post their location and that is your only means of contact, then imagine how long it is going to take for them to state whether sold or not, or even ship out your item or give you their paypal. Just a good rule of thumb right there, having the state listed prior or whatever is not imperative.
