The first cold night here caused my car to not start the next morning. I had to roll-start it. This happened for about 2 more days. I eventually had the battery checked. It was fine. I haven't had any problems getting it started since then. Just tonight though, I was sitting idle for about 5 minutes with my headlights on (including brights), and my battery light in the gauge cluster started to flicker on and off. I had been noticing that my gauges and headlights were a lot dimmer than normal. I revved the engine up, and the problem was solved. The idle isn't below the normal operating idle, and I had the alternator replaced around a year ago.

QUOTE(Alexander @ Jan 4, 2006 - 11:15 AM) you mite even want to either tighten the belt or replace it before you replace the alternator that mite make a difference Unless you hear it squeeking, this isn't going to help anything. Sometimes those guys at the auto parts stores who test batteries don't really know what they're doing, so you could have a battery that's not taking a charge. This would make the car run off the alternater, which puts a big strain on it and makes it go bad fast. If you get a voltage meter, you can check to see how many volts the alternater is putting out, and that should tell you if it's bad or not. I think it should put out around 15-16 somethings. I can't remember exactly what to turn the meter to. Someone more knowledgable can take you from there. -------------------- Live Free, Be Happy
