So while trying to get into my parking spot today in my apartments garage, my car hit the adjcent wall next to my parking spot. Now there is this huge dent on the side including tons of scratches. mad.gif

But the bright side is, i looked it up online and my assigned parking spot violates a couple Seattle Municipal Codes about parking spaces, most notably the size of the spot when there is a barrier and the distance of my spot to the barrier, in the case a wall, and in this case the distance is ZERO. So tomorrow morning im going to my apartmetn buildings office and going to demand they pay for the damages and reassign me to a spot that adheres to these codes! Hopefully they wont fuss when presented with the code vilolations and do what i ask.

this might sound kind of rude but if YOU ran into the wall and you are going to make THEM pay for it, your a complete a$$hole. Its your fault, learn to park.

Hey fellas, how about some tact? Orville, these guys have a point. It was your fault and making someone else pay for it seems like a stretch to me - even if the space was not large enough per city regulations. There are many times when we have to make a judgement call about whether we can fit somewhere. IMO, if the space was too tight, you should have parked elsewhere. Good luck with the repairs.

i know your trying to do the right thing for your motor, but this is one of those times where you should just trust the guys who have had their swaps for a while and have done a ton of research into this.

i appreciate the comments guys, both supportive and and not so supportive. The things is, this was an assigned parking spot, i pay to rent it every month and I have a contract for this specific spot, thus i could not have parked anywhere else. If you rent an apartment that is unknowingly not up to code and you incure damages to your property because of these violations, they are liable. I believe this is the case here.

I believe that it was the fact that the width of the spot was not up to code as well as the fact that the wall was too close to my assigned spot as defined by city regulations that caused me to hit the wall. Since i was not able to park anywhere else, i was forced to park in this spot which was too small and dagerously too close to barriers, again, as specified by Seattle municipal codes.

Despite if you folks think i am in the right or wrong to ask this of them, ill appreciate any feedback and comments you have. Ill let youll know what happens.

this would all depend on my landlord for me, if he's a jackass, then i'd try to stick it on him. If i like the landlord, i'd just accept my parking job and pay for the repairs.

This is your best argument and one that, depending on the exact circumstances, could carry the day. Best of luck to you in working it out.
