I have problems with 1st, 3rd, and 5th. I could have a similar problem. I'm going to get a short shift kit to see if that doesn't at least help a little.

Short shift kit will not solve your problem, when you are having problems with such arrangement of gears its most probably your gear cable clip being bent of broken and letting the cable slide a bit. Short shifter will only make it feel like your problem is fixed untill that clip totally falls off, making your way home possible on only second and fourth gear... I've been there kindasad.gif

So you're saying it will feel fixed with the short shifter? Sounds good, I'm getting one.

actually i doubt that will make it "feel fixed", but it might feel "less broken" since you are gonna have shorter and stronger throw with brand new brushings that will make it smoother

I know that it's just a temp fix and will only make it feel slightly better. I know your knew to this site, but people who know me know I don't just jump into things and haff way do stuff. I would rather fix whatever the problem is, but I just don't know how to fix it. I figured with the new shifter it would feel good enough that it would bother me so much. And maybe with the new parts, would fix it. It is a 94. I don't know what to bend, or what dirrection. Those little clamps that hold the shifter cabels in place on top of the transmition? If so, what dirrection? It's not like I feel like the car isn't going far enough to go into gear, it just doesn't feel as right going from 2-3 as 3-4. It's a lot smoother. I was worried about synro's actually. 3rd is the worse, and I hear it's a common problem on Celicas. Don't get me wrong, it's not bad, it's just not F1 smooth.

So, what do I need to do? Get new cables? I don't want to cheap out, I never cheap out when it comes to my baby. I just want really smooth shifts.

where do u go to get new cables? and how do you replace them?

Also, what would be a good mileage interval to do this? Better to prevent problems than having 2 or 3 gears outta commission.
