I read the install how to but it doesnt say anything about the motor. the reason i am replacing the antenna is bc it grinds going up and wont go down unless you give it a little push. There is a how to on disconnecting the motor but that requires that the antenna will be pretty much useless seeing as you connect your antenna wire to another wire in the car. Is there a way for me to stop the motor without making this already bought and ready to instally antenna more than just aesthetic.

It won't make the grinding noise after you install it. That was going on in my Celica as well, and when I installed the S2000 antenna it stopped. It makes the noise because the stock antenna is bent.

nope doesn't make the noise cause the antenna's bent mine does it now. It just means you need a new mast. There like $50 at a local dealer. If you take the antenna out by unscrewing that metel peice outside your car and turn your car on the antenna will go up and you can take it out. There is a plastic peice that goes up with the antenna that plastic peice has teeth on it that makes the antenna go up and down. The teeth are prob stripped mine does the same thing and thats what i had to do. hope that helps you. But if you getting the s2k antenna then just disconnect the motor.
