Ok heard about 7th gen steering conversion... bla bla bla. (Doesn't apply to my question)

Heard about converting a 4 spoke 94-? wheel to a 98-99 3 spoke steering wheel. But the wiring does not match up because the wiring changed between years. Fine.

Ok, heres a question: What if one gets a 94-95 3 spoke steering wheel (looks different from a 98-99 steering wheel) from a overseas celica, GT4, or whatever. Will one still run into wiring "mismatches" when installing into a 94? I figured its 3 spoke and its approx the same year, can it really be different wiring?

The bad thing is that the 98-99 3spoke looks better than the 94-95 3spoke.

I apologize if this is a repost.

when u say wiring, you mean for the horn or airbag? i put a 3 spoke(98-99) on my 94 and didn't have to change anything. theres 2 wires for the horn that will rip when u pull the wheel off but u just reconnect them and thats all. the airbag, i left unplugged. the wiring for airbags are different. so which wiring are u talking about?

Yes thats what I mean, sorry for not clarifying. When I say wiring mismatches I guess I really mean wiring to the airbag. Ummm now that you mention it, I wonder if the 94-95 3spoke even has an airbag... I assume so.

who needs an airbag when you have a seat belt, is what i always say! lol. yea, the wiring for airbag will hopefully plug in assuming the new wheel is from an obd1(i guess so since its 94-95).

lol. yea. it works unless youre searching for a word with 3 or less characters which sucks sometimes. but yeah, obd1 was on 94-95 and obd2 was on 96-99 celicas. obd stands for on board diagnostics. lol. just felt like throwin that in there.

Joker,
i know you did the change, but are you saying the wiring didn't match up. I take it because of it being a obd1.
i had heard the wiring matches up to the 96-97 obd2 assuming your using a 6th gen 98-99 wheel and the 7th gen wheel?

no, they did not match on mine. the new wheel that i have now is 98-99 celica steering. the plugs were different. i assume because i have obd1, like u said. i also heard that on 96-97 the plugs are the same.
