I know there have been some discussion late in the past upon swaping the specific engine ST246 which produces a stronger HP engine than the 3rd Gen engine, but i haven't found any posting about actually doing the swap; i know this might sound stupid, but i just like to ask if there has been any updated info upon such engine swap with ST246 3SGTE engine (4th Gen engine) ?? Thanks, i would appreciate any response if possible. I know i could just easily go for the 3rd Gen 3SGTE, but just always curious about the newer version of the 3SGTE engine.

There is one we know of, but there is little documentation on the complex wiring. I'm sure tweak could do it, but the added cost of the 4th gen 3sgte is simply not worth the 10 or so hp you get.
good luck --------------------

I sold my Caldina GT4 ('00) clip and it went in to a MR2 in Florida. I've decided that a 5S-FTE and then a 5S-GTE would be a better setup for me.
That damn wiring was just too much and like Pressure said the Turbo and IC were just not what I was looking for. Maybe someday I will go 3rd Gen 3S-GTE. This post has been edited by Negative: Feb 10, 2006 - 9:43 AM -------------------- |

QUOTE(CelicaZR @ Feb 10, 2006 - 7:52 AM) nice never seen it in a 6, but whats up with the hood vent im guessing he spent all of his money on the 4th gen 3s -------------------- I think Bigfoot is blurry, that's the problem. That's a second gen isn't it? I don't know much about the 3sgtes though. He needs a scoop for that hood. Seems to me that if you had enough money to put a 4th gen in your car, you would at least put it in right and make sure the intercooler had enough air. It won't get much just setting there, air needs to be pushed in it. That's why front mounts work so well.

Theres no reason to do go Caldina besides the fact that you can say you have a Caldina engine. Its 256hp with another crappy intercooler and a massive headache of an install. ST205 is a much better option.

hahaha...yeah...i know...i felt the pain when i read what people had to say about it...true it is higher in HP, but the installation, rather just import a 1994 GT4 celi in with all that money put in. Dang...thanks for all your inputs/opinions...just thought since time passed, maybe it had gotten better and there is another easy route to take when talking about installing the ST246 in... ^_- thanks to all who put in words on this silly forum...

I've yet to understand any way that the 4th gen 3SGTE is superior to the 3rd gen.
