Hey i just now got home from picking up my 4A-ge its the 16 valve, i wish i could have gotten the 20v but hey i just about stole this motor, i got it for $75 bucks,

it only has 25,000 miles, its a japan spec 4a-ge.



What could i put on it to make it about as fast as the 20v

That motor sound be pretty simple to turbo, if you like that root. Otherwise, stay true to the NA crowd and you could have a real high rpm running machine. Either way, that thing has high potiental. Check 4aclub.com, I think that's the site. They'll have all the info you need to turn that into a real motor.

the guy gave me the receipt where he baught it like 2 months ago and he wrecked his mr2, its garanteed from the company so thats good!

Yea it was an awsome find.

He payed $550 for it.

Is it better to Boost this than my 7a thats in there now?

The only hard part for me will be the wiring harness

That is a smallport 4AGE... high compression (10:3:1) with no TVIS. It's the best 16V 4AGE imo... and you got a killer deal assuming the engine is in good condition. It does have really fat rods cause it shares the same internals as the 4AGZE... except it has high comp pistons, which make it bad for boost. It is a much stronger engine than the 7AFE and with the right pistons... those rods can take some abuse (upwards of 9000 rpms and/or 15-20 psi boost)...

You are missing a lot of things though... you're gonna need another TPS, a Distributor, coil and ignitior, wiring harness, ecu, afm or MAP and IAT depending on which ecu/wiring you use... etc. I think I do have a MAP coil and MAP distributor for that motor... but talk to tweak on what you wanna do regarding wiring...

Wow, a smallport! You got a really good deal there. Interesting... I just noticed that the crank pulley is the same as the 20v version. Anyway, there is a ton of stuff missing as far as the engine management... you might want to give some serious consideration to either modifying the 7A ECU and harness to run it, or go with a megasquirt setup.

Kwanza how much would you sell the MAP coil and MAP distributor for?

so what do you think the HP is on here now since its the smallport?

what are the odds to find a smallport?

I don't think anyone has a smallport on this site... at least not in a celica. I've had a built one in my AE86, and an 90 AE92... so I'm the only one.

Email this guy if you decide to go with stock parts. He has a FULL MAP set-up from a Geo Prizm GSI, which also had this engine. Expect to pay at least 300-500 dollars for the whole she-bang though... but email him and ask. After you get that harness and ecu... send it off to tweak to wire it up for you... or you can take a stab at it. Megasquirt will work also... but it's not for the average tuner or a first timer...

How much Boost will my Smallport 4a-ge hold stock?

and with a cold air intake, catback exhaust, and the maximum boost what do you think the HP would be?

block internals are about 90% the same... pistons are differennt... rods are slightly different... head is completely different.
