My newly installed ct-26 or something else with my setup is acting up a bit.
For what reason i haven't discover yet my car decides to start boggin down really bad
and and dies. Check engine light is on. It happens after i get on it a little.
I accelerated (not a ridiculous amount honestly..) through an intersection and got up to about 50 mph
and was just going constant 50 or so down the road and it started boggin. I let off the gas and coasted and then shiffted back into 5th and it bogged and died. Assure you i didnt miss shift and kill it. Similar thing happend later that night. with no coasting after it starts to bog. If i let the car sit off for ~5 min it starts up and goes fine.
If i try to start it before i let it sit long enough it bogs up and down around 600 rpm and then dies.
All i have installed is the turbo and all the neccessaries and an oil pressure gauge.

Possible facts that could help diagnosis:

i have the supra mkIII injectors
oil pressure gauge only (got boost gauge today)
no timing or fuel controllers to speak of.
no intercooler. It was about 40 degrees the night it bogged and died.
I haven't driven over 3200 rmp since and it seems to run ok.
At stop lights or signs @ idle the oil pressure reads like 2 psi.


My thoughts.. Turbo wheel is not spinning freely and bogs the exhaust gas and kills the car.
Boost or pressure somewhere is leaking and messing up the whole rhythm of the car.
I can drive the car around like a granny and nothing goes wrong but I didnt turbo my car to
drive slower than I can accelerate on my bicycle. Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2 questions,
1:do you have a 2 bar map sensor on there
2: why are you running only half a system??
your gonna pop your motor super quick the way your going.
your setup is like swiss cheese there are so many holes in it.
you NEED an intercooler, you NEED a 2 bar map, you NEED bigger injectors (, you NEED to have a boost gauge hooked up properly. you shouldnt even be driving the car in the state its in, basicly.
read the stickys and youll see all the info you need about it.
your oil pressure sounds dangerously low, what type of gauge are you using, is it new or used, and how is it attached...

geese ya you've got a half system man. i have a 2 bar map if you need it. and definately get fuel management, and have it tuned corretly. bigger fuel pump too. you gotta do some more research before you even think about driving it.

NEED seems pretty excessive considering buriens kit doesn't have a intercooler.
Got bigger fuel pump i just wired the boost gauge and I have the 2 bar map.
I said i have all the necessities.
The gauge is a new sunpro electric.
One wire to sending unit comming from oil sender just like you
have pressure2. One to radio fuse since im putting in a new head unit when i get a harness. and of course a ground to the frame. It usually sits at about 25, 26 lbs when i give it the slightest bit of gas. It seems a little messed up.
Do you think my problems are the intercooler?
I honestly have the same setup as you describe in your famous post manny, except no intercooler, different (stock mr 2) bov, no upgrade on the turbo.

I am trying to see if everything i have works guys. I'm pretty sure i should be able to drive the car in a leisurly fashion without e- fuel management.
If you guys think its the no intercooler than i trust you guys.
I'll try to find those rx-7 injectors. Were they the low impedance or the high. Also any other sources for bigger injectors?
P.s. it seems to run real rich as start up until the engine is warm. Like the condensation out of the downpipe is mostly fuel. a problem?
Oh and what intercooler did you get and were Manny?? And.... where did you T off for the boost gauge? I read that the line to the map sensor is a bad choice.

it sounds like you bought the basics really cheap off ebay or somewhere, and just couldnt wait to put them on. if you keep cutting corners like this, your motor will pop, like presure2 said. dont take any examples from the burien kit, its far from complete or what people would call a correct setup.

as far as your stalling problem. it sounds like you have a huge vac leak somwhere in your system, thats causing the car to stall out.

Thanks, i bet your right. The more i think about it.
I did get some stuff off e-bay but most of the 3sgte part i got from
a guy with a blown alltrac. I'm pretty sick of hearing about how cutting corners will blow your engine. The only way i could have spent more money on this is if i would have bought all the parts from toyota brand new. who the hell is going to do tha? You cant tell me i need a brad new cast iron manifold.
I have a problem and if i put on an intercooler with this problem, im still going to have a problem. I obviously don't know what im doing and all my info comes from these forums. I installed my injectors long before i put a turbo on my car. Now i know that the injectors are fine and not my problem because i tested the car with only that changed. See how that works? If my car actually runs with the necessities. (no intercooler for example) than i know that when the ic is installed its the ic if i have a problem.. I know this is not normal but i just want a basic setup of a car that drive normal. Once i have that then i can get equipment to tune it and then i can drive it like a turboed car. I'm not just slapin' everything together and then stomping my foot to the floor.
Sorry i had to vent.
It just seems that if anyone has a problem on these site eveyone else tells them to not cut corners or there car will blow.

Yeah its probably a vac leak.

i can tell you # 1 with those 315s and no way to richen it up, your gonna be super lean.
you really need to at the minimum get an safcII or somthing to add fuel.

thats my 1st run on the dyno, before any tuning with the 315s.
to say that its DANGEROUSLY lean, is being modest.
and thats with a decent intercooler.
i got my intercooler from ebay, its a spearco core.

no one is saying that you cut corners by buying new vs used stuff.

you cut corners by buying:

using the wrong size injectors,
not buying a piggy back to tune it with,
not going to a dyno to see you a/f curve
not getting an egt gauge
not getting a boost gauge
not getting an intercooler to make sure the motor dosnt detonate
etc....

i dont know how much you know about reading dyno sheets.... but if you look at the dyno manny posted on his 315cc injectors, its so lean, that it could blow the motor at any minute!

dude lol

it sounds what my car was like when i had a half system in it to park it down the street.

I basically had the turbo, injectors, and an untuned safc on it. No inter cooler as i had ABS plumbing pipe . (im a plumber) and some 90 degree abs plumbing elbows going from my turbo to my TB. I also happened to forget about the map sensor which made it sound jsut horible. once i finally got everthing on it worked fine.

How much boost were you pushing on that run ?

Wow i guess that is pretty lean 12 is a good a/f ration right??

And i conceed, my incomplete system is just s**t.
I will get my act together and finish er up.
Thanks for your patience and help guys.
What's my best bet for injectors??
p.s. i had a leak at the bov vac hose.

you really wanna keep it around 11:1 under boost, a little on the rich side is safer than not.

you're running too rich because the big injectors + no fuel control ...

running rich will make it bog

if you run too rich (like you are) then you're also contaminating your oil with raw fuel , which is why you have 2psi of fuel pressure at idle...

you know your check oil light comes on @ 5psi, at idle oil pressure should be above 7-10psi

you're really screwing up your piston rings and rod bearings running with that low an oil pressure

fix the fuel control problem and change your oil ASAP

Something tells me there is something up with my gauge.
It acts pretty goofy and i cant imagine that the pressure is that low. Seems
like the car would be running pretty awful or at least not almost prefect sounding at idle. Anyway im not gonna run my car anymore till i get the injectors. btw it gets a good 26psi at around 2 grand, so i think thats probably fine. it just drops so much when i let it idle. And when i started the car and let it warm up a bit it was just sitting at 25ish.
Putting the pressure sender on the fitting that you use for the oil supply
to the turbo is cool right?

wrong, if he has a 1bar map sensor he's running 50% rich
if he has a 2 bar he's running 30% lean

he didn't mention a 2 bar... i think he's running pig rich

true, i must be running mean lean.
I think a different oil pressure gauge might be in order cause that is how i have mine. Do you guys splice the fuses back in line with the wires you use for power to the gauges?
