I'm considering a 4agze swap cuz my 7afe is about to crap out. Ne1 on here actually do this? If so could you respond cuz i'd like to ask you some questions about your experience... Thanks (I'm new to these boards, i thought there might be a better response to it on here as this is 6gc's only) Thanks for all your input.
EDIT* I meant how much would it cost to hire a mechanic to do this, (btw i'd be switching it from a auto to a manual, so try to include that in your figures. A lot of the mechanics around here are wussing out and stuff. How about wiring up the computer and such? Is there any documentation about this? Thats all i can think of now... Thanks in advance (again) Ryan This post has been edited by FAQdaWorld: May 24, 2003 - 2:34 PM -------------------- AIM : FAQdaWorld

Mynzeyes (John) is doing a 4agze swap with a auto to manual and i think he got everythin quoted for about $3600 or somethin like that but im not sure if he's doing the work himself or what so you might want to talk to him for more information.

hey dude, check your thread over on celica.net, i offered up a lot of background info about the swap, as far as the mechanics doing it, that's up to them to actaully take on the project.
shogun - w/ me, i'm looking at under 3600, more like 3k, and that's w/ some goodies . also, i'm doin all the work myself, and i look to get it done in a week, instead of these peeps takin 3 months to do a swap... -John- -------------------- |

no way to tell. b/c of the celica's weight and the different mods you can do, there is no way to tell the 0-60 in a celica. as far as HP numbers though, even stock v. stock, w/ the 4agze swap you will gain AT LEAST 200% of your wheel horsepower. . -John- -------------------- |

there has to be an idea of some sort....like would it beat a civic si 0-60? im not expecting earth shattering speeds i just wanna know before i swap cause if its not that fast id just assume get a civic si as a second car or something

stock for stock, at the worst it would be the same as a civic si. the 4agze has somewhere around 170hp at the crank. and all the torque it has is very low in the powerband and the boost from the SC is instant. 0-60 it very well may be faster. with the 14psi pulley and an intercooler, the car should be faster than a civc si -------------------- 1994 Celica GT4 WRC Edition

, my engine has definitely begun it's descent. Today after checking the oil level (which mysteriously drops for unknown reasons), and restarting the car it started shaking uncontrollably. I'm calling around for the 4agze tomorrow morning (if anyone is open(being memorial day and all)). Then i have to convince my mechanic that this is all feasible. So i'm gonna be driving my 1987 Jeep Cherokee (w/ over 200,087 miles) Oh yea....
Sigh... I'm gonna miss my baby for these next few weeks.... How long can i expect to wait for a new engine to arrive here on the east coast (just wondering)? -------------------- AIM : FAQdaWorld

Can I inject some here guys.
If I had the choice, this is what I would do. Get the 4AGZE. take of the supercharge and sell it. Get a turbo manifold; blitz, gradyy, hks, apexi intake and exhaust Get an HKS GT2510 turbo and some oil pluming lines and adaptors. Get Apexi AVC & SAFC & Blitz turbo timer Get an MSD Digital 6 Plus ignition w/ Nology M80 Coil and Magnecor racing wires and HKS Iridium Spark Plugs and Hyperground Cables. Get Some 450+cc injectors with Adjustable Fuel pressure w/ Gauge. When you are done here, you will have well over 240bhp + more @ the wheel. You may need to rebore to get to 1.8l with some nice 8.5:1 low compression pistons. After this you can run some boost. You can get part from Toda Racing and others. Good luck -------------------- West_Minist

If you can swap, you have mone'.
I know. It would take sometime, but at the end of the day, tht is where you are going to be heading. Why not just leave the engine in and live with that? You see my point. We always need more. Again, take your time and will accomplish all that you need to do. I had left out alot of stuff in the previous thread, but you catch my drift. |

you dont necessarily have to have alot of money to do this swap...i dont think i thought someone said it was relatively cheap...also a question how much andwhat would you need for swap to make it run 0-60 in around or under 6 seconds...i assume what west_minist said wold probably get it around there but im still curious would changing it to turbo be pretty much the only way to get it to run that fast or could you do it with the SC..although id rather have a turbo setup than an SC

Turbo is all out performance.
That is why it is use in drag racing. Sc is efficeint at low rpm. Up top, it becomes a load to the engine. You can use both, but you will need an aftermarket computer todisable the sc when you kit in the turbo. |

Ok, today i called around to various places. One of which the guy tried to sell me the 3sgte front clip and that the 4agze wont fit in my car (i told him that i trusted you guys and he was like ok), anyway, I got quotes anywhere from around 1600 + 500 shipping (and this in in north carolina keep in mind) to 1000 plus 475 shipping (from venus auto which is in california) (shipping to east coast keep in mind). Anyway, when i asked venus auto what was the mileage on the 4agze they told me that it was like 60,000 miles but they cant tell for sure cuz the gauges were broken. This would be my #1 choice because of it being so cheap, but i dont want an engine thats been torn to hell and barely runs when i get it. Anyone deal with venus auto before and will give them a good reference? If not i may have to pay like around 2000 just to get a decent shape engine (which seems like a bit much). Anyway, hit me back soon....
