I would like to make this a sticky for everyone who has any problems with their suspension as much as I had. I'm no mechanic nor claim to be, these are just things I have had and fixed on my own.
Squeeling - Causes: brakes or a loose caliper bolt. Solution: check pads for wear and unevenness, replace pads if needed or tighten caliper bolt, make sure shims are seated properly and theres anti-squeel goop on them. Rattling - Causes: sway end links, license plate, loose debris in fender or tire storage area. Solution: check sway end links for wear and tear, replace if needed or tighten more. Sillicone on the back of license plate (if not selling your car, don't do this), check fender and tire storage for little debris (coins, nuts, etc.) and remove. Vibrations - Causes: tires or bearings. Solution: Check air pressure in tire or balance tire. Jack car up, grab tire and try to shake it, if tire woobles, check and then replace your wheel bearing if needed. Klunking - Causes: struts, springs, bearings. Solution: A blown strut will cause your car to klunk when moving reverse to forward after changing gears. Springs might not me settled in. Strut bearings might need replacing or greased more. -------------------- |
