lol, I thought the idea of this thread was to cut the crap and just figure it out. So what if it was just for the ST guys? It's still helping someone is it not? I'll call some local yards around here and see what there is.

Not what I meant. I'm all for helping out any Celica. Just wondering if there would be a benifit to me as well.

Player158 - you're profile says you have 7th gen big brake kit. Does that mean you swapped knuckles too or something? How did you do it?

ok suckas I have done some research and found out some things.

I did a search for "7th" in the sus forum here and found a bunch of big brake posts and from the info in all of them combined this is my conclusion....

7th gen brakes will fit on an ST (front) but not a GT. The rears will not work with either GT or ST.

Well if the GTS dosent fit then it may not be worth the hasel of upgrading .. but, it is still an option worth knowing about incase you get in a jam for brake parts... lets finish this so we can have some "real life" proof that this "IS or IS NOT" a possable alternative... I may try and whem somthing this week end if i have time...

Hmmm....funny you mention the "big brake" idea. I have a project underway that will probably give us an option for those seeking larger, more powerful brakes. I'll keep you all informed.

Really all it comes down to is getting a rotor that mates to the hub properly with a 5x100 lug pattern, a caliper that will match the size of the rotor after the pads are installed to maximize its surface area, a custom machined bracket so that the caliper hardware will bolt up to the knuckle properly and stay perfectly level (any imperfection would make for shuddery brakes) and then some custom lines to mate up with the calipers.

Its alot of work and custom fabrication and won't be cheap either way. 7th gen kits are going to be pricey and for less money you could source OEM parts to do the same thing with a visit to the machine shop. Sure its not name brand, but if name brand is what you want theres already options there too. There's upgraded brake kits for the ST202 as well, you can find them on EBay but they're way overpriced and use a massive 8-piston caliper.

I'll keep you all updated on what I find out.

I think Bigfoot is blurry, that's the problem. It's not the photographer's fault. Bigfoot is blurry. And that's extra scary to me, because there's a large, out-of-focus monster roaming the countryside.

as Silver94Celica said, we have a big brake kit for the 6gc in the works.. It uses a 321mm custom rotor and 4 pot calipers.

The kit includes:

321mm rotors (options for drilled, slotted, or both)
4 pot calipers
S/S brake lines
High Quality pads
Mounting Brackets

The kit is going to be around 1100.00 shipped.. that price isn't set in stone.. we are aiming for lower. We will soon be in the testing stages. If everything goes good we should have the kits available by mid march.

Sounds good smile.gif. So would this be for the GT and/or ST? And would this include front and rear?

It would be for the GT, unless the ST is the same as the GT?

This is only the front. If rear is in demand than we can work on that after we finish the fronts. If we did a rear it would be nothing more than a larger rotor on a larger single piston caliper. You don't really want much braking power in the rear.

We can make an ST kit then.. but we both own GT's lol. When we do an ST kit maybe we can get someone to donate their car for the mock up.. give them a free kit then smile.gif
