Ok, I am looking for serious replies only!! I will repeat serious replies only!!!
My plan consists of moving the turbo to the passenger side of the engine. I know, it seems weird, but I would like to come up with some way of creating a V-Mount. Now my question is, if I wrap the manifold tubes around the left of the motor which would come to about 1.5 feet tops (all equal length in the end) would this affect anything? I mean when you stretch out a tubular manifold the tubes are probably right around 9-10 inches, so would a few extra inches kill any "performance" aspecs? Yes this would move my DP around, and all my wiring on that side, but I will deal with it. I would intend on putting the intake side forward, as you would have figured out by now. Honestly, dont reply unless you have an answer. I dont want some horse sh*t answer like dont do that, do it the normal way. If you honestly have no idea as to an answer DONT POST. Thanks, Scott -------------------- ![]() |

You can do what you're saying, but the easiest thing to do is make the manifold so that the four pipes flow into one early on, then run one larger pipe up to your turbo. Obviously you're going to need a good bracket to hold the turbo. It would work just fine and there would probably be only a VERY minor drop in spool time.
But why would you do it? -Doc This post has been edited by Dr_Tweak: Feb 12, 2006 - 4:31 AM -------------------- -Dr Tweak, 6GC's resident engine swap wiring expert extraordinaire Click here to see my swaps drtweak@phoenixtuning.com |

QUOTE(Sev408 @ Feb 12, 2006 - 3:16 AM) to come up with some way of creating a V-Mount ^^thats why. Also to be a little bit different. And thank you for a very reasonable answer Doc. I was hoping someone with mechanical intelligence would come along with a helpful answer. This is really the only thing that would be moved. The cruise control, i believe is what it is. Not my car, dont really care whose it is. Its the first motor shot i found. ![]() This post has been edited by Sev408: Feb 12, 2006 - 5:02 AM -------------------- ![]() |

heres a few shots of an Rx7 v mount.
Its when you take the intercooler and radiator and create a V shape. Allowing better airflow to both. Intercooler goes on top, radiator on the bottom. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() as you can see from the mass of rx7 shots i used and the huge amount saved on my hard drive, i plan on buying one in about 2 years as soon as i graduate college. its been my dream car for 5 years now, 2 more years and its mine. Hawt. I bet it'll be rather hard to do though... unless you removed the a/c condenser and the hood latch parts, I bet that you could pull it off without even having to move the turbo way over if you could move stuff around enough.

yeah, my plan really is to find a narrow intercooler, so its height wont take up to much space. And make more of a check mark shape then a complete V. I would angle the rad as much as possible, then fill the hole with the intercooler.
I also had in my plans of running the stock twins from a FD. However, as much fun as it would be to do, the celi just doesnt have the room in the engine bay for it. Thus why i wanted to mount it on the left side of the car. That and I would need to tap hoses into parts of the motor I dont feel like messing with. So I will probably just run a T3, i am really looking for just streetability. 7a's are slow, i have had the car for 3.5-4 years now and I am def not in the racer group. I just want some highway horse power. If i can push 200 daily i would be very happy. -------------------- ![]() |
