I've been offered a job at a shop in Beaufort, SC, and I think I'm going to go for it. I'm going down in a couple of weeks to check things out and look for housing. The shop is fully-equipped: lifts, tig welder setup, a DYNO, everything. I'm basically going to be managing the shop and the starting pay is real decent.
Right now, it's looking like I'll be heading down there to start fulltime around May 1st. Sadly this means that I won't be a bid part of NET anymore, heck, I'm going to have to start a new forum, SET (southeastern tuners)! LOL. I know this may be a disappointment to some of you who may have been planning on coming up to have work done, but for pretty much anyone south of New York, the travel time will be about the same. For others that are in the southeast, this may be great news for you. So, that's about it, wanted to give everyone a heads up. All of the projects that I have currently at my shop will be completed of course, but I won't be booking any more here. This is still in the planning stages so it may not even happen, but I'll know more in the coming weeks. -Doc -------------------- -Dr Tweak, 6GC's resident engine swap wiring expert extraordinaire Click here to see my swaps drtweak@phoenixtuning.com |

She's really excited about it, she's been wanting to go somewhere warmer. It's in the very south of the state, not far from Savannah, GA.

Beaufort SC is where Marine Corps boot camp is at. Its a small town with not much to do from what I saw. Only part I really saw was the drive in, the drive out and Parris Island. It is a Military town, so if its like any other Military town they will hate the Marines cause Marines get drun kand usually piss off the town folk alot. Another thing with military towns is that they like to rip off the military members. You'll prolly find that the shop charges way more for some service than if you go away from the town.
Hilton head is not too far. I think like 45 minutes from Beaufort. I hope you like humidiity cause its a killer down there. Also, look out for sand fleas and mosquitos. Not saying that it is a bad place, but all the Military towns I've lived in hated the Military and liked to rip us off. Someone else that has lived in one can back me up on this. |

QUOTE(Jeremy1210 @ Feb 15, 2006 - 8:20 AM) Beaufort SC is where Marine Corps boot camp is at. Its a small town with not much to do from what I saw. It is a Military town, so if its like any other Military town they will hate the Marines cause Marines get drun kand usually piss off the town folk alot. Being a Marine I'll vouch for Jeremy1210 on this one. Shop charges will be a lot different than what you are used to. You'll grow to hate Marines because of how obnoxious they get. You'll also find that they will pay any amount of money for something that they want. I've lived in Jacksonville, N.C. and Oceanside, CA before, and Jacksonville is the worst. Oceanside wasn't so bad because you could just drive 20 minutes and be away from everyone, but in NC that was the only town for miles. I hated it. But anyways, good luck, and have fun. -------------------- |
