search around buddy, there is tons of info in the forced induction forum. but as far as i know there is nothing other than a swap or ur custom turbo that will give u that much power. my a GT with cold air intake, soon 3 inch full exhaust, full tune up with top quality parts i dont think ill be close to 150. my word to u is do like most of the ppl here save up and do the swap it seems that is really worth it.
and urs in an automatic ....save save save This post has been edited by lake1069: Feb 2, 2006 - 1:01 AM |

Stick with a 2.25 or 2.5 inch exhaust for N/A, 3 inch is overkill for the 5SFE. You do a number of things to up the horsepower. Head swap, I/H/E, Nitrous, or turbo. Keep reading you'll find something you like. -------------------- I will return one day. |

I think your best option is to just swap a 4age in. It's a bolt in swap. Both are "a" series engines. This gives you more hp, no matter which 4age you get. Other options are 4age head on the 7afe block. There's guys out there that build the 7afe a little without turbo. Most usually swap the 4age in. Go n/a, it's the best power hands down.

N/A just means that it isn't turbocharged.

n/a = naturally asperated
F/i = force induction ie:turbo, nitrous, or super charged your ST is an N/A motor cause it sucks in air on its own your probably not goin to hit 150hp on a n/a 7afe its just not built for it consider a turbo setup (READ THE STICKIES FOR THIS INFO) you could make a hybrid motor this requires a professional though.... realistically the only way your going to make some decent power is to swap...or pour a lot of money into making a 7afe turbo setup reliable ruffly over 2000$ imo |

n/a = naturally asperated <---type of motor you have
2.25 or 2.5 inch <---unit of measure commonly found in the world, inches. exhaust <----what engine fumes exit your car through, its metal pipes apply unit of measure to exhuast pipe size, 2.25+ diameter of the pipe, *not trying to be mean just making it really simplified* This post has been edited by playr158: Feb 2, 2006 - 1:21 PM |

Yes, but not much. Many people will disagree with me when I say this, but I don't think the cost for a full custom exhaust justifies a few extra HP. IMO, the only time it's worth it to have an exhaust system is when you're turboed or swapped.

I don't like the thought that you have to have a turbo to do anything good. I'm just a NA guy. The 5sfe and 7afe aren't good NA motors, but they will pick up a couple hp from exhaust. If every little hp you can get matters to you, exhaust isn't a bad idea. -------------------- Live Free, Be Happy

oh wow...that v8 thing was defenitly a joke.......
try SEARCHing ebay for the header to get a price... QUOTE can u explain more to me? thx yea umm ok at this point my advice to you is just accept stockness until you learn cars 101...which i believe there is a sticky expaining this in teh sticky section of this forum.. header is the FIRST piece of your exhaust it bolts onto the engine block and goes from 4 pipes into 1 pipe the SECOND piece is your downpipe which wraps from the manifold to under the motor and under the car THIRD is a catalytic converter which is an emission device 4th is your muffler at the back of the car |

Why spend $400 for a header, 2.25" mandrel bent exhaust, hi-flow cat and a brand name muffler just to pick up a few lousy horsepower and make a lot more noise? -------------------- |
