QUOTE
How come you guys with them don't have better numbers at the track?

because its a fwd car, because most of us have never even been to a track, because when you are flooring it, its very easy to break the tires loose, and that ends up it not so great track times.

QUOTE
The thing is though, it gets talked up like it will outrun everything on the road.

no, it will not out run everything on the road, but it is faster then most cars in its class (fwd 4cy sporty econo like the celica, civic, rsx-s,etc)

after you swa, all the turbo cars and v8s are your enemy and will probably be faster or a really close race depending on their weight. the secret to a 3sgte swaped celica, is that its a light fwd car, so from a roll, its pretty damn fast. if you want a really good idea of what its like, just think of it as a 13sec car at 15psi, even if most people cant record that time slip due to track issues, it will still feel and act like that when you are driving on the street.

QUOTE
I want to see a 3sgte Celica run low 12s. And still de driven daily.

well, then build it! its totally possible and easy to do. all you need is a turbo upgrade and some fuel mods. im pretty sure that celica3sgte posted a video of his swaped car runing 12s before.

the whole magic to this motor is that, all these track times and dyno numbers you see posted are from pretty much bone stock swaps (exhaust, IC, MBC). once you have that, you are opened up to a whole world of possible upgrades you can do. there are people on mr2oc making 400hp on unopend motors! as far as turbo 4cyl motors, the 3sgte is basically on the same level as the 4g63 (evo motor) or the sr20. thats why it gets the hype it does, because of the pontential and that its very easy to modify and make more power from it.

A 13second street car is very fast. Don't Vipers run low 13s stock? I just see these Honda's breaking into those times all the time. But there's a lot more of them, so the odds are higher. There are few 3sgte swapped Celica's compared to the turbo charged Honda's out there.
I've considered building a 3sgte one day. I'm so dirt poor right now. I can't afford anything. I'm doing all the research now. I've considered 3sge, because I love NA power. If I could see proof that a 3sgte in a FWD car can actually hook up and run 12s, I'll probably be forced to do that. Otherwise I'm getting a Subi. lol. I do love my Celica though.

The reason I've been a little dissapointed, is because everyone says the 3sgte is the best 4 cyclinder motor ever mass produced. How come you guys with them don't have better numbers at the track? The 3sgte Celica seems to be a really fun car. And all who have it, love it. The thing is though, it gets talked up like it will outrun everything on the road. The troque would help on these things. Lagos, if you say you beat him really badly, I fully believe you. I want to see a 3sgte Celica run low 12s. And still de driven daily. That would measure up to the hype.

EDIT: I bet you've got a lot less money in that Celica than a stock RSX-S, Lagos. Those are impressive hp and torque numbers. I prefer 0-60, and 0-100 times.

Best 4 cylinder ever mass produced? Never heard anyone say that... maybe one of the best turbocharged 4 cylinders... then again the 4G63 is superior to the 3S in my eyes.

You know the 5S isn't a bad motor to elect for one of the best straight fours of all time. it had decent power for it's time, but that aside, it's almost bulletproof and can log hundreds of thousands of miles. I dunno... I'm going to say Nissan's old 2.4 is my favorite 4 cylinder motor. I've seen those things take crazy amounts of abuse and be fine.
