Hi guy's,
I replaced my front and rear brake pads about 6 months ago. In the front i put good quality ones that cost around 90 bucks. they're going really good. In the back i put ones in that cost around 35. the driver's side (in rhd) back brake alway's squeels when braking but only under a certain amount of pressure. It will go away if i brake hard. and lately it's been sticking when i have the handbrake on. After i release the hand brake the car won't roll forward or back if it's on a hill and will only move when i go to accelerate and will make a sort of cracking noise when it comes off. Just wondering if you thought it was the cheapo pads of something else. Cheers for your help. |

disks or drums in the rear? If we are talking about disks, the e-brake is inside of the disk drum and doesn't have anything to do with brake pads. As far as squeels go, make sure you have all the shims, and try some anti-squeel compound under the shim and where the piston contacts the shim, viration = noise. For the e-brake you might want to take the disk off and check for anything that might be stopping the pads from returning, clean up everything with some brake cleaner and re-adjust the little star nut so there is a very slight drag when you spin the rotor. Also check out the condition of you e-brake cables, check for binding and corrosion, anything that might stop it from returning after you let the brake go. Have some one opporate the brake while you check the cables so you can see exactly whats going on.
Make sure everything is tight, like I said vibration = noise |
