well, the clip i bought and then sold to zipstrips was through STI. i was supposed to by buying one, but obviously my #'s weren't adding up nicely.
Well w/ the SC i have, this isn't the same. i have the money at this point, and i WAS having a chunk of extra cash to the side for any problems, but....i found this:
The Best Clip EVAR!!!
so yea. I used the side cash to pay for the difference in that, and since i'm running ALL stock this should be pretty reliable. Still have cash there for fluids, and regular maintenance.
just had to share...sooooooo happy

Its a shame you are swapping and not putting a 2jz in there. Cost you about a $1000 more upfront and for an extra $4000 some day you can have a AEM and BIG ASS TURBO and safely run 500whp.

i know your trying to do the right thing for your motor, but this is one of those times where you should just trust the guys who have had their swaps for a while and have done a ton of research into this.

the 1jz is pretty capable, and the r154 tranny is better gearing for street.

since i want this car to be more than a straight line, i dont plan to go too high

kinda makes me want to buy a lexus and swap a 2jz into it someday. seems like the price range is just about the same as a 3s swap in a celica.

there's a white sc in his area that has the 2jz-gte in it.

the guys that want BIG power go 2jz, or if they wanna say "supra" a lot tongue.gif

its nice to have 2 cars to look for parts off of in the states and on the forums a 2jz is more common even a 600whp 2jz-ge motor, modified here and there to tune for boost with forged internals of course. what plans do you have for the 1jz

I got a ride in an automatic 2jz swapped 4 door RWD lexus (maybe GS300 or GS400?). The engine was still in stock form except for the FMIC and Exhaust. It was fast but what struck me was (1) how quiet it was despite the full 3" exhaust (its amazing what dual exhaust with 2 mufflers and 2 resonators can do); and (2) how absolute mushy the ride was. Those cars need some suspension work in a bad way.

define mushy

Lots of body roll in the corners, lots of play in the steering wheel, lots of sidewall flex in the tires. When you ride over a 6 inch pothole, you don't notice anything. Think: big boat-like Cadillac from the late-seventies, early eighties.

hence why the g300 is a luxury car.. lol the sc300 has way more options as far as suspension and handling goes. im sure consynx knows what i mean. plus i think the sc300 is the best of the lexus line for a 2jz host, is300 has alot of style but the sc can look really good kitted up and the sc also has a much wider stance for cornering and launches.

are you going to dyno that 1jz?
