i know your trying to do the right thing for your motor, but this is one of those times where you should just trust the guys who have had their swaps for a while and have done a ton of research into this.

this swap has been on alltrac.net and a few other site over the last year or so ..

he did the awd conv the "right" way ... they installed entire rear floor pan and shock towers from st205 and then installed rear drivetrain ..

I don't understand why importers dont offer more roof cuts or rear as well with st205 front clips.. They just get tossed in japan... total shame ....

like i said before best way to do conv is to have a complete rear cut .. that way you get gas tank, susp ,etc...

I am surprised to know that you have not this kind of swaps in USA!!
In Greece, we had about 50 GT-four AWD and the originals are no more than 30!! The rest of them are modificated like mine, by importing front and rear cuts from Japan. I cannot understand why it is difficult for you to have rear cuts in USA!!
Well, i wish i had photos of the different stages of this swap, but that was completely out of my mind these days, while i was too anxious to hear the engine working!!
The mechanic beleived that the swap would not work in any way, if we had not replace the most of the car floor, because celica, had not the marks to mount the rear drive block, includind suspension system.
So, except from difficult, it would be extremely dangerous to install the awd system without the rear floor from Gt-four. I know 2-3 cars that made with this way and they dont seem to have any problems, but i wouldnt like to drive a car like this.. If you want to do this swap, you need to have a rear cut, otherwise you will have to pay a lot of money to have the trunk, and the drive parts. So, i dont see any reason not to install the completely rear floor, and mount the awd exactly where toyota want it to be while you will have all the parts that you willl need from the rear cut! Even a 1/100 of a mm wrong, could be disasterous!!!
So, when we replace the floor, we had to reinforce, and (i dont know the word) make protection from rust where we cut it. The rest of the job was much easyer and the problems that we had later, had been easily taken care. Now it is very difficult for anyone to find out if my celica is original gt-four or not, except from the case that someone checks the registration which the car is mentioned as 1800cc.. I would have to pay a lot of taxes if i register it as a 2000cc.. I hope i will not ever been checked from an celica expert policeman!!

The Jap owner of the inported crashed gt four which i use for the swap had upgrade the turbo system with HKS parts, and propably this is why the car have 328hp instead of 255. I wish to have a photo of the crashed car exterior, which had flame stickers all over it..When i saw it i was really worried about the condition of the engine.. So it was realy great when we discover that the interior pressure was in excellent condition, and the kilometre meter was not opened to change the numbers..So, i feel lucky because when you order a crashed car, you can't know if the engine will be working or not, and the price is always the same. So, you might get a gt four with a damaged engine or a gt-four which will be a treasure of 400 horses!! The used parts companies have specific price for each model and they dont seem to care about aftermarket parts that each car might have.
Japan has great variety of goods for our celica's, and most of the owners like modifications!!
The only sad thing was that the sunroof was totally destroyed so i cound not mount it to my car, and the gt-four badge was replaced by another one, that instead of the "o" in the word "four", had a turbine sign, so i did not install it, and it is difficult to find a new one from toyota.
About the japanese owner, he propably was seriously inlured because the roof of the car was nearly to the top of the seat... I hope the guy was short enough not to be killed!!
I hope you will forgive my bad english, and i will give my best to provide any information to anyone interested it this kind of swap! My mechanic will propably remember every detail!!

Also, i should mention that this is not the first time that i am doing this thing, as i had do the same in the past with my previous car! I swaped a GTI-R engine with the awd into my Nissan sunny, but as i remember it was much more easy and the cost was much more less than doing the same to my celica.

Vacchus

thanks for giving us some info. can you take some pictures of the rear end, gas tank, trunk area and drive shaft for us? id like to see how they look compared to a normal celica.

since you live in greece, its easy for you to import the whole crashed car and take what you need from it. here in america, they cut the cars and only ship us the front half. its very rare to find somone who is selling the rear half of the car.

Ok, i will take care for the photos next time i will change the engine oil and i will try to take the same photos of an original gt-four, to see if you will find any diferences!
As i told you, the best thing that i did is get in touch with the guy that works for the used parts company and travels to japan every three months to seek crashed cars (Mostly gt-fours, and Nissan gti-r), and i told him exactly what i would like to have. If you know a company that does this business, i will be happy to help by giving informations about crashed gt-fours with both rear and front parts in good condition, and provide you the contact details of the jankyards, in order to tell the company where they can pick the parts.
I ve seen pictures of many avaliable cars, and if you can arrange the rest part (payment and shipment in a 20ft container), i am sure that you will be more than happy!! In my case we arranged the transportation along with a friend of mine who was desperately seeking for a gti-r, so they sent us both cars (one in top of the other!!!)in the same container so the cost was the half for each one.
The cost of a car while you are ordering it threw a company (so you get the discount of them)is about 3000-5000 euros depending on the jankyard willing and cars condition, but i have no idea about the transportation cost from japan to USA. Also you should count for any taxes you will have to pay to the customs.
If you can check for all these, i will be glad to help. I think that some photos of the avaliable cars would be great. Many of the japanese, do not allow to take photos of the engine bay(!), but i ve got the right person to take care of everything!!

LOOOOOLLLLL

Thanks for the translation!!!!!
Ok my friend!! 1500 kms more for the engine oil, so when my celi will be lifted up, i will be able to take photos of the rear parts. It is so stupid for me not to had pictured all the stages!! I would have an avesome presentation and a great "how to" article!!

Do you think it is cool to use an on-line translator? All it does is make it so 90% of the board cannot read what is in the thread without going to a similar website and decoding it. Grow up.
