does the accord cai mod work for st's also? i assume it would take a lil more modifying cuz the throttle body is farther forward, if it'll even work at all. have any st drivers tried it?

96-99 neon i believe, and difference is none, 3 point braces make a difference.

thanks. now does anyone know anything about the fitment of the accord cai on an st? even a couple guesstimates would be okay. 35 bucks is a lot of money to me and i wouldn't wanna waste it.

what do you really wana know, can you get an accord (year?) CAI on a st celica?

any CAI can be maid to fit all you need is a sharp angle peace like an L with the short end feeding into the throttel body. (granted the diamitar needs to match or have a pipe diamitar reducer.

You can make your own.
Use 2.5 inch or 3 inch aluminum intake piping

For a 3 inch system
You'll need from the throttle body

silicion adapter 2.5 to 3 inch
-
90 degree bend, end pointing towards the bottom of the radiator
-
silicon adapter
-
Straight pipe
-
silicone adapter
-
straight pipe
-
silicone adapter
-
90 degree bend, end pointing towards the fender
-
Air filter

and of course clamps to hold eveything together

Bump, plus a question. I was reading the sticky for the injen intake on the st, do you follow that for the gt when installing or is there a difference? Cuz if there is then we need a sticky for the installation on the gt. Thanks

They should be close, same principals. Remove airbox, plug valve case breather tube onto nipple
fitting, remove rubber grommer from airbox(oxygen sensor) and put it into your intake. Plug sensor into this.
theres got to be a how to in the forum if I remember right.

yeah, can i get the 90-93 accord cai to fit an st like they do on gt's in the sticky section. but whatever, i guess i'ma go for it. it should work right? if not, i'm gonna make it work... unless someone says otherwise.

i thought about making my own like that or like in the how-to section, but the 90-93 accord cai is cheaper and seems easier to do... unless it doesn't fit and i waste money.

yeah, just follow those directions. its pretty simple install, nothing complicated about it.

ok, after looking up "90-93 accord intake" on ebay for a pic, I would not recomend buying one of em for use on a celica, its an S shape intake would without cutting one of the bends off it would probably not fit very good.

cutting is required. there are instructions in the sticky cai for the gt. but the st throttle body is a lil farther forward in the engine bay than in the gt. i know i'ma have to make slightly different cuts. so what i wanna know is if there is too much of a difference in location between the two throttle bodies in order to make it work. any guesses?

the diff in location is really not that far off, the 5sfe throttle body is a little closer to the fire wall but not a big deal to cut a little distance of the pipe to make it fit, hight wise its about the same.

given that the price of civic/accord intakes is around $20 you might as well just by a couple and just have at it.

yeah, i guess i'm gonna go for it. i mean... what's the worst that could happen, right. and its only 30 ish bucks. that's chump change... i make that much everytime i blink. and if it doesn't fit, i'm gonna make it fit.

I was always under the impression that the accord cai was a direct fit for the GT with almost no modification?

some modification is required. you have to cut the pipes and the bottom of the your fuse box. and you also have to take out the lower intake box. cutting it seems easy enough. it took a while to take out my lower intake box. now i just have to buy the cai, cut it up, and put it in.

oh...well, thats nothing. I was talking more along the lines of pipe bending modification. If thats the case....then i dont see why everyone just doesn't go with the accord CAI.

would this be a good kit to buy? cai 1. its similar to the pcp cai except cheaper. but i dunno the diameter of the piping. i asked the seller but no reply. it doesn't look bigger than 2.75".
or would this be better? cai 2. the seller says its 2.75" piping. but the "L" pipe has a bigger angle. would it still work?

wow i cant believe my thread actually made it into the sticky (thanks 6gc mods)

n e how. there is some modifing of the pipes to get it to fit. and the fuse box does have to be cut or re mounted in a diffrent manor.

No promises but it might fit the ST with some modifications. the TB being farther back might present a problem but it should be easily solved with some planing

best thing to do is get the pipes as they are rather cheap. before cutting n e thing take a look at how you think you should route the pipes. mark and then cut.
