Depends totally on what kinda system you want...id say go with components in the front (type rs are a good choice like lilsteeg said). and then i think just one 12 would do you fine. Im one who likes his trunk space, so my opinions may differ... Also i prefer the Kicker solo-barics over the type-rs, but again thats probably just me.

streetz did you just list diamond/lightning audio as not cheaping out? and then say JL is cheap? I think your a little backwards in all this...Im interested in hearing some of these new subs you got. Being up in arlington My2, i know theres tons of car related stuff up there...id go with a nice pair of duals, best on the market. no im totally kidding, go with the alpines or the kickers.

i never said JL was cheap i said dont waste ur money, there way to over priced and for the money u spend on that u can do so much better, and yes i listed diamond on top of JL, my friend had 2 w7s and the amps to power it and he spent over like 2 grand just for that and a basic box, u can do an entire system for a lot less that that, i like alpine if u buy the right ones, imo i dont like kicker, its all on opinions anyways i know a lot that say JL is the best and kids who really do think there duals from best buy are the best..

Sub: 12" Eclipse Titanium
(The alpine tipe R subs are not very good dont take strong power, same with the type r mids kinda weak and dont handel the best) Speakers: Components up frunt: Infinity kappa perfects. (people say you would have to have an amp on em because a deck does not push enough but I disagree, they sould great off deck power) rears, Infinity referance (convert to 6x9 if you can for a stonger sound from the rear to hold up with the sub) This post has been edited by creis: Feb 24, 2006 - 10:54 PM -------------------- |

It depends on what you want to call the best. Do you want something that will sound good or something that will pound the crap out of everything? If you want sound quality, some good component sets brands are CDT audio, mb quart, and focal. Some good sub brands are Image Dynamics, Elemental Designs, Adire Audio, Eclipse, JL, Alpine (type r), and even Infinity. Research first and hang out on car audio forums, you'll learn alot on what type of audio components will match your musical taste.

I'm running this on my Nissan 350Z out does most of sound systems out on the street,
JL 1000/1 AMP pushing 10W7V2 + JL 450/4 AMP pushing set of front component speakers & rear speaker which is JL Evo's. On Toyota Celica I used to run MTX Thunder 81001 Amp pushing 12W6V1 + MTX Tunder 204 Amp pushing front component speakers & rear speaker which was Kenwood. (Which all AMP's & speakers are for sale now) Like a old saying you do get what you pay for .... Really .... To me Alpine subwoofers & speakers suck so does Infinity, Lighting Audio, & some new no name companys . If anything just stop by an audio tune shop & see what the owners & workers in the shops are running on they're cars, from there you might hear a sound system you might likw / enjoy. And from there you could start building the system that you'll enjoy & love having, not something that you got because someone told you it was good. Good Luck finding your sound ..... What's your budget? What music do you listen to? Are you aiming for SQ or SPL? You cant really get a great answer without these first.

You get what you pay for though, so dont be fooled by knockoff/cheaper brands like lightning audio This post has been edited by tim86: Feb 25, 2006 - 3:06 PM |

i work at an audio shop that sells kenwood, jl, boston, alpine, and directed this is my opinion on the stuff that we carry and how they compare up. i have feelings about other brands i like mtx subs they are great but haven't worked with them much. memphis makes some good stuff i like their mclass speakers and their old studio amp are great dont care much for their reference series amps tho, kicker i personally like and the kicker subs and amps i have dealed with have been good love the comp vrs and the solos great for spl. xtant makes some awsome products their amps are xtreamly impressive and their x series subs just great.
everything with a system depends on your equipment you can spend 1000 on a sub and 200 on an amp and put them in a prefab box and get ****ty performance or you can spend 125 on a sub 200-300 on a good amp and 125 for a custom box and have a great sound system. if your going to ne thing with a system just make sure you get good equipment and have a box made for those subs for the music you like. here is my reviews of the stuff that we carry enjoy jl w1's are the way to go for about 125 for a 12 you can't got wrong they may not take alot of power but i promise if you put them in a good box and have a nice little amp you can't go wrong for cheap or alpine type s subs are bomb for cheap anything directed is cheap and dont really care for them to much for mid lvl jl audio w3's little more pricey but ****ing a i have installed so many w3's and am always impressed with them take alot of punishment and come out hammering almost can't beat these badboys alpine buy the type r's take quite abit of power ****ing hammer upper jl w6's bad boys that are made for spl take a pair and put atleast 1000 watts and stand back and be prepared to be impressed some of the best subs you can buy jl w7 expensive as hell but definately impressive for sq and don't do bad for spl did a truck with 2 8w7's wit a kicker 1000 on it and it would tickel your ears alpine type x bad boys must push atleast 1000 watts to each sub they are xtreamly power hungery subs but sound amazing speakers boston makes some awsome sounding speakers that are really reasonably priced definately worth looking into alpine the type s speakers are good entry lvl alpine type r's bad boys alot of midbass sound amazing kenwood makes some decent speakers jl's i don't really care much for the jl speakers they sound ok but the bostons sound alot better in my opinion although i really really love the zr's but they are hella expensive alpine type x speakers need alot of power but sound good they take alot of power amps in my opinion jl amps (slash series) are the best for alot of reasons regulated power supplies so you get full power not depending on your voltage and if lightening strikes your car, alot of r and d spent on how they sound, will put out full power on any ohm load between 1.5 and 4 ohms alpine definately some awsome amps sound beautiful and will put out some power however dont go down to 1 ohm and don't have regulated power supplies but still a great product and definately worth buying directed - cheap stuff one of those brands that pushs but you know its an entry lvl product good for peps who don't wanna spend alot of money but want some power stay away from the d600 crappy amp although haven't had ne problems with the d800 d1200 or d2400 amps i hope that this might have helped some of you in deciding what kind of stuff to use or not use if you have ne questions just hit me up my email is audio_earthquake@yahoo.com peace out |
