Back in the month of september, I was running low boost (break-in period), with my new management system (autronic smc and cdi r500). At only 8 lbs of boost the car was running without any problem except for the underhood too high temperature cause of the manifold.

Then , in the month of october after two weeks without running, the car refuse to start and after 4 or 5 try with the starter ; crickkkkkkkk.

The engine has a major water ingestion after two rainy weeks (without running) and cause the no1 rod to broke. I'm gooing now to rebuild the engine with one 4agze new piston and a set of forged rods. I suspect the water was entering by the intercooler piping even with the huge t-clamp ! In the future i'll start the car every day and I'll cover my car in the rainy days .

I plan to use 4agze piston, pauter rod , cometic mls head gasket, total seal rings and finally boost to 15-16 lbs . I'll keep you updated !

That's great. You'll be running 26psi on that? What kind of numbers you expect to put down? Maybe one of these days you'll consider a gutted interior and some lightweight, non-chrome, wheels. I use to love when things on my old car broke, because it just gave me an excuss to make it better.

I want to change the wheels for sure, but I can't decide between 18" or 19".

26 psi humm , maybe at the end of summer , i`ll need bigger than 440cc .

With the t3 super 60, I expect no more than 260-280 whp at 20-24 psi (maximum of the turbo)

I've always loved that paint, but those wheels aren't really my cup 'o' tea.

I would go 18 lightwieghts, but that's just me. I'd actually go 16-17 lights, but you have a show car, so I don't think you will do that. As for the 26psi, that was supposed to be quoting you with 16psi. It was a typo. But If you want to push it that high, I'm not going to stop you. I don't think that would be a great idea without some serious bottem end work. I would like to see some numbers on your car, 0-60, 1/4mile, 1/8mile, all that good stuff. I've got to say, I'm really happy that you're working on the engine and not just powder coating the 7afe valve cover and calling it a show car. I get irritated when that happens. My dad had a 454 big block with a 400 turbo trans in his show truck. I don't know if he ever took it to the track, but it sure was worthy.

Ironic, man...your engine is built and it broke that easy. My 7A-FTE is stock and I boost 10-12 PSI on it with small injectors all day long and the internals look brand new and compression is the same as when rebuilt. I already have 4,000 miles on it. I rode it for two weeks; just came back from P.R. yesterday. It was strong. Well, good luck and hopefully, you don't get too paranoid now that this weird thing just happened to you. smile.gif

Dude that sucks, i am kind of sad because that was one of the hottest celicas around here, but at the same time its cool that you are rebuilding and making it even better.

seeing that you broke an aftermarket piston on only 8psi scares me. and its been raining some around here too..

i thought the engine breaking was not due to boosting, I thought it was from inducing water.

Did we ever get a dyno chart from you?

OK, the piston was damaged cause of the broken rod and I change it for security. Water ingestion in an engine kills automatically! The others pistons and rods are like new, I update to pauter because it's clearly the weakest point on the engine.

It is a supra in front of my car wink.gif

I still continue with oem gze 8.0:1, for this year I can't wait for custom ones. I know they can take abuse.

Nerver had the chance to dynoed my car , this year will be the one !
