brown milky water=blown head. PERIOD! Don't let anybody tell you otherwise. Waterpumps are cheap, its just getting to them. The motor has to be lifted up part way and the motor mount removed. Do the timing belt. Dont skip on this step. Hopefully you didn't crack your head

thanks guys, the $400+ to get a new waterpump was overwhelming at the time, im a poor college kid, going to school full time and working only 20-25 hours per week, and my job pay is only around the $7 per hour, the waterpump is in perfect condition just not the gasket, it leaks from there, otherwise the waterpump was good and didn't fail, I would just continue adding coolant, and it would be fine. BUT this is the problem, I've forgotton all about adding coolant to the radiator!!! Because I thought adding coolant to the overflow tank would be fine, So that's the problem, it was no coolant in the radiator!

Okay, there was no coolant in the radiator, but regardless- you should have known something was up when the Temp guage was fluttering everywhere. You allowed the temps to get so high that you blew your head gasket and most likely warped your head.
Now, it could have been caused by something else. My Old VW ran fine and all but the Previous Owner broke part of the Thermostat off and somehow managed to get into the coolant lines and into the block. It blocked the flow of coolant, so it backed up and blew everything to hell. Water Pump, Head Gasket, Head, and Radiator. It only cost me 900 dollars to fix, but the car was out of commission for over a month. It doesn't matter how the problem started, the fact that you allowed it to go on like that is horrible. I wish you the best of luck on finding the true source of the problem, don't expect it to be done and great in 3-5 days. Be glad if it is done in a week or two. -------------------- 1991 MR2 - T-tops - Crimson Red - Gen3 3SGTE - Lots of money

^I know, i was so confused! because it would stay at normal operating temperature for a while, then i thought it was ok, thats why i continue driving the car on the highway, if it'd stay on hot temp, i would've pulled over, but it went to normal and low temp, man..

lol, keep your head up bro. I know a lot of the guys here come off harsh, but they know their s***, and guys like us should be lucky to take the knowledge they throw down. I had my celi off the road for over a month and a half because I blew a nice 8 inch hole in the front of my block and I was diving head first into my first swap. Im still a ways behind the rest of the guys on the site, but I know a hell of a lot more now then when I first bought her. having things bust on the car, is a learning experience. How do you think they all know this stuff? Just be a little more cautious next time.... ok A LOT more cautious next time.
