Braces, any one else got them?? Options

i gotta be like 2nd oldest w/ braces.... almost 19 and just got them on about a month ago - should have had it done when i was in like the 7th grade... but the family couldn't afford it back then- so my appearence suffers now instead

Got mine on Halloween of 8th grade (I'll never forget the day). My mouth hurt like unbelieveable hell for a few days. It was awkward for a few weeks, then it was fine. Got them off my junior year of high school. I still wear my retainer at nights (going on six years of doing that) because if I keep it off for a few days and put it back on, I can feel the slight shift and tension built up againt the retainer from my teeth.

I had a permanent metal retainer mounted behind my lower teeth after they got off. It was very unintrusive until it broke a few months ago and I ripped it out with a pair of pliers. I went to the orthodontist and he said it'd be fine to keep it out... he cleaned up the mess I made, and alls good.

Hey dont worry! I'm 17 and Im getting braces too...

It really sucks for me cuz I'm in the school band and I play Trombone and I havta have my mouthpeice smashed into my lips, which will rub up against the braces... it'll hurt like a bitch

Gah... I sound like sucha geek when I talk about band... LOL

i had mine for 4-5 years....so excited to get them off...never wore the retainer...now my teeth are straight but they are kinda shiftin back to the way they were

oh and i had these shock asorber lookin things that i couldnt open my mouth to much or they would come apart lol

thats what i told my dad when i 1st got it lol. iam still thinkin about it too because they are on my top teeth in the back and i cant talk right cuz my tongue allways hits it.
