If so, What was the problem?

i think the practice of deleting threads around here is lame. i can understand locking or moving stuff.... but if i remember correctly, there was some good info in that thread for others to learn from.

I was planning on posting a new topic, nice and clean of exactly what I did. That thread was intended for some quick answers to get my car started. That's all... I promise I will post a new one full of pics and diagrams.

Agreed. Why get rid of information that could help others? Isn't that what the forum is all about? This ability to self delete and moderator deleting posts is really short sighted IMO. My recommendation is to reconsider this policy.

i know your trying to do the right thing for your motor, but this is one of those times where you should just trust the guys who have had their swaps for a while and have done a ton of research into this.

You know what that's great that you got your car started but it wouldn't have hurt anything to leave it open. I had posted several diagrams and explanations along with lists of fuses directly related to the starting circuit. I even made a diagram of RJBs instructions to show what needs to be connected in order to bypass the clutch start switch. Even if that didn't end up being your problem, there would have been no issues with leaving that thread open and starting another.

Deleting threads should only be done in buying and selling. If the thread is cluttered it would be a better idea to have it cleaned rather than completely removed. If this continues we all need to stop telling people to use the search function because sooner or later there will be nothing to search through.

Something needs to be done. Every time we have a good thread going with somewhat detailed information regarding the 3S swap wiring something gets deleted or edited.

i TOTALLY agree.

not to mention, its a little insulting to everyone who took the time out to post a reply. they wake up the next morning and figure out that the time they put into trying to help was all for nothing.

Chan, don't worry about it. Its the policy that needs to be changed - not you. Also, don't worry about Justin and Art - I think a scientologist got ahold of them today. laugh.gif

jay, there is no problem with the policy.
chan asked for the post to be deleted, so it was.
my understanding of it was he was planning to make a new post, with a detailed description of what the problem was and how to correct it, so that people who searched for it in the future would have the problem and answer, all in one post.
he has since asked for the original post to be reopened, and it has.
i understand why everyone was all up in arms about it, cause i too was wondering what happen, and what the solution was.
but to call it a "policy problem" is not correct.

It, by all means, is a policy problem. There were contributions from several members and much more detailed instructions than what was posted in the new thread.

Deleting threads should be a last resort.

Yeah, don't worry about it Chanh. You had good intentions.

Jay, I think a scientologist more than got ahold of me today... It was more like a molestation. laugh.gif

again, you seem to be dissmising the point that chan ASKED for the post to be deleted.
whoever contributed whatever at that point became irrelevent, bacause the OP asked for his thread to be deleted.
how are we wrong for doing what the OP asked us to do?

Manny:

I think the policy should be to say "no" when an OP asks that a thread be deleted. Locked, yes. Deleted, no - particularly where there is worthy information included. I was not saying that the policy was followed incorrectly. I was giving my opinion that the policy of acquiescing to OP requests to delete threads should be changed.

ahh..
i see your point now, Jay, and id have to agree, as long as the post is celica related, and constructive.
i think we'd all agree on those terms.
its people like you that will continue to make this site better jay.
all of you for that matter.
this type of disscussion is what will continue to make this better and better, and i think we all should try and communicate things in this manner.
even tho it is obvious that some of you are upset about it, we've all been mature enough to voice our opinions without having to resort to childish bickering ect...and thats whats important.
i think we can all work together as a "team" to make this place better and better in the future, and i hope all of you will continue to voice your opinions.
if any of you guys have any problems, or whatever, feel free to hit me, or any one of the mods for that matter up, thats what we're here for.
