Does any one happen to know what the DOT standards are for NJ with HID's....

all i've read so far regarding hids is that they are not-legal in the states unless they shipped with your car.

HID headlight setups won't pass NJ inspection. I know two people who use them and both failed inspection for HID's that aren't factory.....this probably doesn't mean that you'll get pulled over for having them installed or anything, but you definately can't pass them off as legal at the DMV unless you get the lower temperature offerings that they make, like 4k-6k Kelvin.

The DMV inspectors are getting pretty good at cracking down on such things, so if you really want HID's just remove the system when you get inspected and replace them with your OEM halogen bulbs, and the rest of the time you can get away with having them.
