hey everyone, i'm new to the 6gc.net site but i've had my celica for about 6 months now and i need a bit of help. about to weeks i took it upon myself to go through a motor swap. i started doing research as many people say is the smartest thing to do. i soon found myself with enough money to buy my engine. i decided to go with the 4age silvertop. i chose this motor cuz i wanted more power and reliability. having an ST also led me to choose the 4age because of the similarities to the 7afe.

well it only took me and some friends one day to pull out the old and drop in the new motor. slept in the next day to think about the wiring.

i took the wiring harnesses off of both engines and started to look at the differences. after talkin to doc tweak for a couple days i started to pull the body harness off the 7afe harness and integrate it into the engine harness of the 4age.

i used the 7afe fuse box and circuit open relay for the swap also. then yesterday i was really exicited cuz i finally got to hear motor for the first time. then came the problem.

the motor will start up for about 1 to 2 seconds then die. we took the AFM plug off and the motor will run but has an eradict idle. anyhelp on the problem would be most helpful. i'm thinking either the ICV valve is broken or maybe it has something to do with vacuum.

First of all let me say that the engine should not run at all when the AFM is unplugged!
When the flap on the AFM moves it signals the Fuel pump to activate and send fuel into the engine.
IF your engine is running without the AFM, you wired the COR wrong. Go back and re wire it.
There should be one green/red wire running from the COR into the AFM. There should be 5 wires totaled ( I think). The green/red one is a 12+ that the AFM uses to activate the Fuel pump. Two red/black that goes to the ECU, one white/black for ground and the other is a switched from the IGN to activate the fuel pump during starts.

Any questions PM me.
