Hey guys,
Hopefully in a few weeks I will have my swap done. It started in Februari, when I went to the local Toyota dealer and joked about if there was a ST205 engine around I would buy it immediatly. Went to my house and to our country's Toyota Site and sure...... a whole GT4 (JDM 255 bhp) wreck was being sold. Had a lot of cosmetic damage + a part of the superstrut suspension was damaged. E-mailed the seller and bought it. Because its the whole car i dont need anything other then a few tune up parts (which i can get for cheap at the local Toyota Dealer), custom made exhaust piping (keeping the stock ST205 muffler). Since I'm no expert mechanic i knew i needed some help at the important points on the swap. So i already contacted someone here in Holland with a lot of experience doing mainly Supra's but also Silvia's and Celica's. I called him how much it was gonna cost me and such and told him I would call him back when the cash was there. After 2 weeks that the car was at my place I got a call from him, saying someone else was interested in the leftovers from the wreck and would do the swap for me if he could keep the rest of the car. Last week i went to his place and this guy is amazing. Did a RHD->LHD swap in a Supra MarkIV. Already did a Celica swap in a ST162 (placing the 1st gen 3S-GTE in it). I knew rightaway he was the guy for the job. So after a few phonecalls and conversations the swap will be done in about 1 month from now (total completion): - He will pick up the wreck from my house, take it back to his and replace any part needed from the engine. Take out the 205 fuel pump, Muffler, ECU, lengthning the Wiring Harness etc etc. Not to forget the radiator for the water-air intercooler. - Front 205 brakes will be removed and when my new rims arrive will be placed put on my car, gonna be a lot of custom work since i dont have SS suspension. - When al of the above is done (probably in 2-3 weeks) i will take my car to his place and he will start pulling out my old engine. Swapping the transmission onto the 3S-GTE and putting it in the car. He will also make the custom 3 inch piping and welding it together with the cat and stock 205 muffler (which will be replaced in a few months) - If everything runs well, the bonnet from the GT4 will be put onto the car and a new GT4 bumper (other one was damaged, but could salvage the turns/bezels/fogs and such) And then the electronic gadgets department takes over. Turbo timer, pressure gauges/oiltemp etc etc. Because it already has enough power as it is stock, a Boost controller will not be needed. The last problem to tackle is traction. Because all of the power will go the the front wheels i doubt if my 225 tires will keep traction if I floor it in 1st/2nd gear. After a bit of research i tihink the best way to go is an aftermarket TCS (probably from Racelogic -> www.racelogic.co.uk ) But thats something to think about. With it, it seems possible to go under 6sec from 0-62, because my car is lighter then the 4 - 96+ Sideskirts will be fitted to the car and the car will be resprayed (in black again) in aiugust I hope. The only sad part is, is that I'm gonna loose my front lip. So keep you guys posted on this. -------------------- JDM Powerplant installed, BPU coming very soon!
