Well, there it is. 2000 dollars for a complete paint job. Only body work they will be doing is replacing new driver's fender. It comes out to 800 for the paint and 1200 in labour. I still have to get the rust off the doors :smilie of old guy hanging himself: . How much would you/did you pay for this job?

imo with paint, you get what you pay for, there are some people that have probably spend 5000$ US on there paint jobs here, and some 500$.

paint jobs are too hard to make a flat rate for, but im sure the people here who have had more experience can tell you what a good price is for a good job.

How much paint and clearcoat? Maaco (I know, flame on) quoted me $700 to fix the rust on the edges of both doors, around a couple of fenders, and fix a couple of dents and dings and a spot where it was keyed, my front bumper where it's peeling, and a single coat of paint. Cover it with a clearcoat would be another $100.

lol...that's my starting quote for a full custom paint job, as in two tone, something with graphic. I think in my opion that is way way to expensive for no body work and just paint.

i paid $2000 for my paint job. It turned out decent. Just go to a reputable shop though. They did a pretty decent job on it. A really good paint job will cost $3000-$5000. I wanted to paint my car a deep black from red and i got a quote for $5000. But yea..$2000 is about right for a decent paintjob.

My car is going into the shop monday. He is painting my car red (orginal color). Right now it is a lighter red which is why I'm going back to the original. Plus he is molding on my body kit (front and back bumpers along with sideskirts) along with some other sutff. When he gave me the quote it was $1000

But the guy is my cousin and cuts me some good deals. biggrin.gif

thanks for all the replies. more than half of the price is the cost of labour (fenders, skirts, spoiler, etc) and prep (sand, fill, glaze). what i need to do now is make a list of what i can do myself to knock down the price. ...man am i ever going to be asking you a lot of questions wink.gif .

as already mentioned, it's hard to put a definite quote on how much a full paint job costs.. it all depends on how well it's prepped and the cost for paint, labor etc etc.

i did the bodywork and paint on my 4th gen 2 years ago when i still had it for about $400 cdn. though it looked alright from afar but had all this tiny orange peel when viewed close up. but for a quick and somewhat-decent-enough paint after some quick bodywork, i was satisfied enough.

but when i repaint my 6th gen another color this summer, i'm definitely going to my sister's buddy (he's a professional detailer/bodyman). he repainted my sister's 6th gen with some bodywork included for $1400 and he did an awesome job. practically took off every piece of the car (like window trims, bumpers..) and it was very nice!

ya it really depends on where ya at a 2k usually a get u a decent paint job resprayed the same color. another color and your are looking to pay 3 plus thatz if you want to get the bay and jams painted. those cheap jobs last about a month "heh all shiny the first day or two a month later dull as rocks" out of all if you are tyring to save a few dollars go with decent paint and make sure you pick the higest quality clear coat. it is whats going to protect the pain and also it is what makes a car shine the most. so what ever you get make sure put an emphasis on the clear.

3k for a new paint color? That sounds absolutely rediculous for a stock color. I paid like 450 for mine, and i had it changed to black from blue, but i didnt get the jams painted (woulda raised it to 550)...and mine still looks pretty good i think...(its been 5 months).

i dont know i guess it all depends n whre you go to get yours . when i loked around for painting quotes ive gotten quotes from 500 dollars (paint included) to 3k for a complete switch. i dont kno why the broad range in prices i think its in the steps of how the job is done, you dont see many body shops actually baking paint jobs like they should. Most skip steps to save time and money but if you paid cheaper and ya got a good job thatz great. but ive found that a decent paint job would cost you 2k. from personal experience. my friend hit my celi one day while we were driving in a group down the highway (dumbass tried to race another car) he put a nice lil dent in my driver side fender and in my driver door. it needed to be painted and dents repaired. the dents wasnt that bad but the cost. 1.1k for a respray of the door and front fender. and get this the job sucked ass. that was the worst paint jb ive ever seen. you cant tell a differnce if your far away but if youu get close you can tell that the paint used was cheap very cheap. so i dont know its wierd that you can get a whole car painted for 500 something bucks. maybe my firend got screwed whenhe had to pay the bill ha! well ne wayz im savin my self for a new one 2 candy red is what im lookin for. I dont wnat to spend under 2k for it.
