Currently I have tein springs(1.5" drop in front 1" in rear) along with the kyb gr2s. The problem is, I also have the erebuni zepher style kit, and after a day of driving with the drop, my front lip is cracked in two places and paint is scuffed off the front in another place. I just took the lip off and it's in my living room. I was wondering who has this combination and how do you drive around with it? I have to park in a gravel lot and I can't even get to my parking spot! This is really frustrating since this will be the 4th time I've had to repaint/refiberglass this lip. How do you guys drive with this setup?

I did that, the problem is, with 4" of clearance so far in front of my front wheels, it creates a problem almost everywhere I go.

I think I might either alter the lip, or raise it somehow. I bolt it in place with 2 bolts in front of the radiator and one in each fenderwell with some adhesive. I think I'll try and mount it a couple inches higher. It might not look good but it won't take alot of effort. I might just paint the lip flat black. It wont look as good as the blue but could someone take the photo in my profile and photoshop the front lip black?

try a supra bomex kit with 14s and a 2-3" drop i was about 2-3" off the ground in the front...
you have to go slow and it worst cases take things speed bumps/driveways at a sharp angle or go up in reverse! |

Hmmm...
I have 4" of clearance with my 404a lip also. I have a crack in mine from when I wasn't paying attention and pulled up too far into a parking space. Other than that, I have no problems with it. I get up driveways and such ok. What other kinds of terrain to you go onto that would cause that much cracking? I guess I just don't understand because gravel shouldn't be too big of an issue if you go slow enough. -------------------- |

maybe I just live in an area with really terrible roads. My parkinglot has some terrible potholes in the gravel and if I back out it drags like a snow plow in reverse over the bumps. I can't see how this is even worth it. My only Idea is to repair this thing all the time and just rattlecan it with paint matched to my car, or rattlecan with a flat black. Could someone PS my car with a black front lip? I might just try my skills at making some sort of custom lip.

I had Teins too.. but with that 404a kit.. I scrapped.. and yes.. if you drive slow and take angles.. you can save 80% of the problems.. but I got tired of tearing it to shreds on those few times there's nothing you could do.. Plus I had no hope of getting on some of those shop lifts..
so i got bags.. -------------------- ~Daniel~ No Longer Celica Owner.. moved on to a 03 WRX-EJ207

i must really say i dont understand how your roads can be that bad. i have had my lip on for 3 years now and have had my DropZone springs just as long an i scraped but have never scraped so hard as to crack it. who cares if the paint on the bottom of the lip comes off nobody looks at it. I hope you figure somethin out cuz ur car looks really good. Good luck

This is why I haven't lowered my car. I have the invader body kit and it is a pain in the butt just getting out of my driveway

well guys, driving show car as street cars (My definition : springs + body kit) will result in scraping. I haven't seen one car with that combination with a flawless bumper, theres no way around it.

A lot depends on where you live - I'm in PA and you don't drive any 1 mile stretch of straight road unless you are on the turnpike or another expressway - everywhere else is all hills and turns - my 404A got scraped up a lot - ironically - it was a ride on the PA turnpike that killed it when a huge chunk of ice dropped off the back wheel well of a truck and hit dead center of my front lip - splitting it in half - bye-bye erebuni 404a.
If another one shows up on here - I'd do it over again, just not a 700 beans for the whole kit. This post has been edited by CJOHNST3: Mar 13, 2006 - 1:31 PM |
