Hello everyone!!
I am a newbee here, and i would like to have your help in a propably stupid question! For 2-3 days i ve got the (!) signal on left to the rpm meter, and i have no idea what this thing is trying to "say" to me, because everything seem to work fine in my Celica.. This is a signal for a problem or for something else?? Thanks in advance |

I didn't realize there was a (!) left of the Tach. I think my manual shows a (!) instead of the words "BRAKE" for cars sold in other countries but that should be located on the same panel as the Tach.
Can you snap us a picture? -------------------- |

Ok, the circled one in your picture should be the parking brake light (it is on USDM gauges anyway). The (P) is the location of our airbag warning light on USDM cars. Maybe someone else on here with a GT4 can offer better advice than I.
Sorry, if I wasn't much help. -------------------- |

The parking brake light, is the (P) for sure. The circled is what i am looking for to know what it means!! It has nothing to do with brakes, or airbags, or oil, or temperature, or speed or anything like that. Anyway, thank you very much for trying to help!! |

Curse those previous owners who throw away important booklets and service records! My car had the same problem until I found one on ebay. *sigh*
Maybe it's the "HOLY CRAP THIS CAR IS AWESOME" warning light!-grin I would suggest maybe calling your local dealership and see what they think it could be. Be sure to let us know what you find out. EDIT: Found a manual on ebay. I'd say it's hard to find service records for my car on ebay. This post has been edited by TheRockman: Mar 9, 2006 - 12:03 PM -------------------- |

Here you go...couple sources...
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/nick.challone...tech/warns.html (look at #7) Here it is copied and pasted, Brake warning light. This light serves two purposes. It illuminates when the handbrake is applied. If it does not extinguish when the handbrake is released, or it illuminates while you are driving, then the brake fluid level is too low. http://www.carcare.org/Brakes/warning_light.shtml Description: Located on the instrument panel, this warning light is usually red and labeled BRAKE. The light glows with the ignition switch in the on position. Purpose: The hydraulic warning light glows when there is a loss of pressure detected in the hydraulic system. On some cars, this light may be used to alert the driver that the brake fluid level is low. Maintenance Tips/Suggestions: If your car’s BRAKE warning light comes on, check your owner’s manual to find out its meaning. Unlike some warning lights, the BRAKE warning light does not have standard meanings; it may be also be used for multiple purposes. For example, the same light may be used to show that the parking brake is engaged and when the fluid in the master cylinder is low. When in doubt, have the condition checked by a qualified service technician right away. A loss of hydraulic pressure can affect brake operation, which can make your car unsafe. BTW: Here was my google search criteria... toyota "warning light" You can find just about everything on google if you know how to find it. Man, thanks a lot!!!! I will go to check the fluid level now!!!! |

Thats why i was afraid that the (!) was for engine problem!! I just add 20ml of brake fluid and it dissapeared!!! Wouldnt be much better if i had a "brakes" signal like your cars instead of the "(!)"?? Anyway, thank you all for helping me!!! |

Yeah... USDM cars just say "BRAKE" when the handbrake is up or I'm guessing now when the fluid is low. Glad it solved your problem.
