In the new superstreet mag, they have listed the top ten motors and the 3s-gte was one of them. They mentioned that it came from the celica all-trac (as well as the others it came in). They also said they wished that toyota would had continue to produce the motor in their newer vehichles. I wish they would too!

Mabey this mag. article will inspire someone to get a celica! biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

What else was on the list? 4G63, SR20, Honda B series no doubt? RB25 or VQ I wonder. I wonder if they have the 13B or the Honda K series.

theyre not ranked

and the 3sgte picture they provide in the article is in a supra ah whatta groupie! lol j/k

bboy

edit: what it says about the 3sgte: The compact turbo motor that seems to have gotten lost in the cracks....*skips unimportant stuff*...When you have a 2.0L motor that's capable of putting out 500+hp, thats a good thing.

d16?? I thought that motor was the most bare-bones powerless and torqueless motor Honda offered in base models....?

However it may have earned its place for having been the benchmark for reliability and tunability back in the day. Who knows.

agreed. i dunno why the heck theyd put that in the list.

heres what they say about it...

Mainly for the ones who didnt have enough cash to do a swap. but there were a handful of die-hard believers in the single cam motor who broke into the 10-sec barrier back when drag racing blew up.

Hmmm. Interesting justification, Super Street.

In all honesty though, if that motor could make the list then there should be alot more other motors that could easily make the list as well.

They should have substituted the 4AGE/4AGZE for the d16, in my opinon. Its been whored around more tracks across the world than you can count, and was the benchmark for N/A and drift power. Or the C30A in the NSX that was the first motor to use VTEC, which revolutionized the market. Far more glorious of a motor than a d16. wink.gif

the list 1.13b-rew,2.2jz-gte,3.3s-gte,4.4g63,5.b16-b18,6.d16,7.ej20,8.k20,9.rb26dett,10.sr20det I read that....
The 3S-GTE was the motor that fell though the cracks... The 2JZ-GTE is the bullet proof bad boy.. All others are Not important (LOL) Just kidding, I we didnt have all those other motors we would not be unique....
