Depends....
Usually Domestics for drag and Imports for circuit. Whatever floats your boat.

I own both, they both have there advantages. Domestics are cheap, and parts are cheap, and matinance is high. I drive my Toyota because it's easy, and I don't have to mess with it all the time. I end up goofing with it all the time anyway just for fun. I don't think there's any clear cut answer on which is better.

Domestics well as far as old school dragger types, with the new Cavilers and Neons they can hang with any civic.

As far as cornering goes vs. old school, imports own the suspension technology is there and were starting to get some pretty high HP cars from the factory just like back in the old days.

My question to whoever reads this, what is the new GTO?
Import influenced body design, Import Influenced Suspension, Classic V8?

I am intriged by where car design is going really, the merge of muscle and import. What would be a new Supra with a v8? I think the line will become vauge as time goes by.

DTE

I honestly love both imports and domestics, but i have heard from soo many people that any "muscle car" can out perfrom any import hp wise.
basicly a fully modded domestic would stomp any fully modded import
even though most domestics already come pretty fast i think they have so much more things out for these imports that it wouldnt be to hard to gain some good hp numpers.

yall know what i mean, your always gonna have your classic guys that believe no import can come close, and i love the classics but i also love my car and a few other imports, and i know that they do have deff potential

There has been a lot more years of developement for parts on the V8's. Anything that makes more hp on the v8's came on the Imports first. Like fuel injection. The technology in domestics is catching up, simply because they're all merging with Import companies. The only thing that is holding most Imports back in the FWD. The better built 4 cylinders can hang with the v8s as long as their RWD. Just look at the times in Pro Drag cars.

Oh boy.

Judging cars by geography is irrelavant, and usually stems from some serious (and ignorant) biases. Admit it, how many of you here would buy a korean car (besides the Tiburon before it got cooler)? Probably no one. I think that's the same kind of attitude a lot of car people had back in the 70's when Japan came on the scene.

People need to do their best to judge a car for what it is on its own, not who makes it.

Now if you wanna have some really good, constructive arguements, compare cars by class; for instance: who would you say made the best sports compact in the 90's? Who made the most underrated sports compact in the 90's (guess what? the most underrated one was an American car, (in my opinion, of course)).

I think you're way off base there. Way off base.

This post is too generalized?? With the merging of auto manufacturers there really isn't a "import vs domestic" thing anymore. More or less it's a FWD/AWD Sport Compact vs RWD Muscle/Pony car debate anymore.

Personally, I have great respect for ANY car that is done right and built to go. I don't care if it's a 6GC with a 3S-GTE swap or a LT1 based Trans Am. If it's built to go, it's cool.

Now this crap that's all show and no go but thinking you're fast.........don't get me started.
