All right, so here goes, this is my first topic post so go easy on me and please don't flame me too much. About 6 months ago i installed the suspension technique's sway bar kit on my 94 GT HB. I had done this previously on my 94 ST Coupe and no problems, so i finished the install on my Gt and went for a test drive around the block. Everything was fine, car drove increasingly better, but the only thing is that any time i go over a slight bump or hole in the road there is a loud knocking/clunking noise coming from the right rear. Now i know that its the sway bar cuse it never had the noise with the stock ones in. So my question is, has anyone ever had this prob, and if so..what do i do to get rid of it? I have tightened the sway bar tot he factory torque, and i have use plenty of lithium grease, so there are no probs, im lost and gettin really annoyed with this noise! PLEASE HELP!

im having the same problem, but for the fronts. when i go on small bumps i hear knocking noise. so today i might check to see if something is loose, so i open my hood and try to tight the middle bolt and its moving, but everytime i try to tighten it, its moving the strut too. so iono what sup with that.

i just had this problem so im stating what i did as well. you stated you tighten the sway bar to factory specs but not the little links that hold the bar and the strut. just because you got new struts doesnt mean you cant blow one going over a bump or hole. maybe your jack in the rear fender is loose. im just going over the madness ive been through lately!

Ok, i see what your saying, it is possible that ive bblown a strut again, i sure as hell hope not cuse they are new KYB struts, but yea otherwise oeverything in the rear is tightened to factory spec, so who knows, and for My2celi, i think your problem when you say that you try to tighten the middle nut, you actually would need to remove the whole strut to tighten it because there is a flat spot on the shaft of the shock that you need to put a wrench on and then you can tighten that middle nut. Hope that helps. Is it just when you go over bumps or sometimes when you turn as well? Mine does it and I am not sure if it is my shocks. |
