I think but i can't member for sure, but the sensers are on the frame behind the head lights. so if your headlights went that probably pushed the headlight bracket fram back at it, and made them go off. Other wise it was just because of the impact both cars made on your car.

same thing happened to my car. no frame damage.
the jerking of the car made the senser think it was a faster accident, so it blew both airbags.

use the cash that your gonna get outa the driver of the mustang, you should get more than the cash to fix your car because he rearended you and you had minor injuries, and build the celi or another celica and make it kick ass

I would keep it and turn it into a race car or something. Buy an MR2 with the money if you want. I'm so worried someone will hit me. Cause I know my insurance company won't give me what the car is worth. I'd be completely screwed.

man that brings back memories - sucks being the middle car - imagine the car in the back that hit you was an Ford F-350 - -

that was what happened to me - and boy did it do damage - i got $10k out of it though - the funny part was it was state farm against state farm - so i immediately got a lawyer since i knew i wouldn't have any luck with the insurance people

ouch, sucks. and you should get more than enough money from the mustang driver. i'd probably say stick the car and fix it up since its pretty much body work. but i dunno, post some pics.

That sucks, but glad you are alright. If I was that mustang driver I would be hanging myself right now. Not only do they had to pay for THEIR car, but now yours and the SUV's. Pretty sure they're going to get dropped. That or pay 2K a month for insurance.

def worth building. especially if insurance pays. only thing that is gonna cost is hatch and headlights. just buy an aftermarket front and rear bumper, if that is what u want and if the price is right. the insurance comp. and body men don't care as long as the parts don't cost more than quoted. we put a cowl hood on a denali becuase it cost the same as the OEM hood...you DO have full coverage right?
and pics would help

hah...wow that estimate is a lil reduculus i think...when i wrecked mine a couple years back i had something similar happen well it blew 3 of the 4 lights no hood damage and the bumper looked fine..well when i got home and took the bumper off.....the reinforcement bar had been crushed in and pushed into the ac condenser, the bar mounts that go in the frame were pulled inward and a couple other braces were bent up....i fixed it all myself including replacing the airbags and sensors. ended up costing me with buying a full kit $3000. i didn't have colision insurance on my car, i only had liablity so i couldn't even total the car so i had to fix it. im glad i did....i've put bout 40k miles on it since the accident and no problems at all. good luck with whatever you decide to do

That car seems like a pretty good deal. ChrisK motor's are niiiiicee. I'd be highly interested in that car if it were closer. But I'm on the look out for a clean black one. smile.gif
