I'm thinking about starting over from scratch with a new Celica. It seems like a waste to paint over my paint job, which still looks pretty nice, and it'd be nice for another member to get a car with a 4A-GE in it.
Basically, I want to sell mine and drive my Nissan(which is almost back to normal and is definitely tolerable) until I find a cheap manual ST hatchback. Or possibly trade mine for a manual ST hatchback plus cash. Then I want to pull the engine, install my extensions and sideskirts, paint the car, put another 20V 4A-GE in(with a AT200 C52 and lightweight flywheel), wire it to use Megasquirt, and then install some KYB AGX shocks with Tein springs, and get some 15" lightweight wheels. Do you guys think this is a good idea? I'm really considering doing it. ![]() -------------------- New Toyota project coming soon...

Hey coom. I'll buy your 4A. We can put my 7A into the Yelli and the 4A in mine!
EDIT: I looked at your "Joined" date next to your name, I'm assuming that is when the site was first published. Tis my birthday. ![]() This post has been edited by 95CelicaST: Mar 16, 2006 - 3:03 AM -------------------- 1991 MR2 - T-tops - Crimson Red - Gen3 3SGTE - Lots of money

Coomer, from experiance, DO IT! You wont regret it. Its so refreshing to have a clean slate in front of you and having a vastly bigger pool of knowledge to work with then when you first started your project years ago. It allows you to change those things that you learned from and truely make your car define you. Sorry, now I'm just getting weird. Anyways, point being, I'm glad I sold my old 94' ST and started over fresh with my 95' GT.

whats wrong with the current celica you have?
I mean, it will be hard to find a celica these days for a cheap price; especially one with a clean straight body. it would be a whole lot cheaper to install the mega squirt on the current engine. |

Your going to sell your current swapped celi for another non-swap, go through the headache again, not know what kinda engine your going to get, work out the kinks, and put more money into it because you dont like the color?
Kinda seems like alot of trouble for something you kinda already have and been working on for awhile. -------------------- |

Nothing's wrong with my car now. It runs perfect and is a blast to drive. Basically the reasons for doing this are that I really, really want a hatchback now, mainly for space reasons...I really loved how I could easily fit hockey gear and stuff in my [fourth-gen] hatchbacks so easily.
Plus, depending on funds, I might tear apart the new engine anyway and put in 4A-GZE pistons in preparation for a turbo setup. ![]() Basically, if I keep my car I'd be replacing the wiring/tranny/ECU/suspension/wheels/brakes, and I'd have to sell all of that seperately. If I sell the whole car, it makes things easier. ![]() -------------------- New Toyota project coming soon...

I say go for it.
There are a lot of ups to starting over, like you said, you have all of the experience to make things better the next time around. That alone is a big plus ![]() The only down side I could see about starting over is spending more $$ again... IMO you should buy a cheap 94-95 ST hatch, swap 4a and 7a, sell the 7a (yellow), and fix up the hatch. -------------------- |
