My ST Auto will barely hit 100. I had to turn off the O/D and go downhill and finally hit 105.

at those speeds the spedometer can be off by 10% or more, so that 125 may have really been 115 wink.gif

please, dont drive that fast. there is no need for that and you are just risking your life and everyones around you.

agreed. A quote that my brother told me, "Turn heads driving slow."

Driving at 120 mph was exciting yet scary. The only reason I was driving that fast was because my friend and I was running late for a business meeting. No cars were on the highway so the only death involved would be mine as the hemi-powered charger was like eight car lengths ahead. tongue.gif I really don't intend on doing this again unless an emergency happened. I just thought the car would do at least like 130mph though.

Oh and I was wondering why would crismillencolin 3sge cut off at 112 and my ST at 120?

I believe all JDM vehicles are limited to that speed. I know mine is supposed to cut off around that same speed, but since my speedo don't work, I don't have a limiter. biggrin.gif

I'll check with the guy who imported my 3sfe, most of the card he imports are modified already so maybe limiter was removed already.

Didn't seem like a lot left but definately no limiter.
Next time will check with GPS.

anyone else used gps to check how far out the std speedo is?

I've never made mine cut off and the most I've ever did was 120 (I know it's unsafe and I usually don't do stuff like that)

How hard is it to get rid of the limiter? Im not really looking into doing it myself as I have hit 115mph and i dont have any desire to do it again. Just curious if its really a hassle to get rid of it

We'll do it sometime on Rt 28. Southbound from the Tarentum exit to the Mills exit is the best place, it's downhill laugh.gif

Theres only 2 major places where the cops hang out, northbound right after RIDC right where the hillside ends and the guardrail begins.

And Southbound at the Creighton onramp right where the mountain cuts out at the bottom of the hill. You have to do your high speed runs from the top to the bottom, but slow down before you reach the onramp. Believe me, I know what I'm doing lol

Mine goes 230km/h (142mph) Speedo goes to 280km/h
When the swap is finished i cant reach beyond 245km/h because the gears are to short.

But im not planning on going that fast.

Sounds like (and felt like to me) that the Celica is easily capable of handling high speeds, the GT4 is designed to get a battering from dirt track roads at rediculous speed sou the drivetrain and chasi on the lower models shouldn'y be far off.

I agree with 120mph in a 70 limit is too fast, you'll rapidly approach some old biddy in her caddy doing 55 in the middle lane, but on the Autobahn... (switch to Kph thinking) I regularly visit a supplier in Elchingen, southern germany and always get a BMW 3 or audi A3/4 as a hire car, it's perfectly normal and quite safe to sit at 200Kph when there's no trafic and no intersections. Had nearly 240Kph out of a hire BMW 735 once.
I reckon the Celica would handle 190Kph for good distance once you got it there.
