Clutch:
if using the gt tranny with the 3sgte motor, you will need: 5sfe disk (or a custom made 3sgte disk, with the splines for the 5sfe tranny) 5sfe throwout bearing 5sfe alignment tool 3sgte pressure plate 3sgte flywheel (or just get your stock one resurfaced) http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=28825 right outta the sticky! |

If you do use a regular 5SFE disc, then make sure you get a good one, like a stage 2.

Right on! I have heard the alltrac 3s clutch pressure plate is supposed to be more clamping power than the mr2 one but i cant comfirm that. I is possibly just a rumor??? Some mr2 guys say this cause of the awd setup on the alltrac compared to the rwd on the mr2. so mr2 guys have always ordered the altrac kit just incase it is not a rumor for better clamp on the disc.

Call spec they can make you a clutch kit for your set up. The reason why you should'nt use a 5sfe disk and 3sgte P.P. Is because the 5sfe disk is smaller than the FW contact surface and you will not utilize all of the gripping power you can. The spec kit will make a 3sgte disk with 5sfe splines. Its perfect, and the right way to do it.

You could just order a 3SGE clutch and flywheel. Centerforce, TRD and ACT all have upgraded clutches for the 3SGE.
QUOTE I have heard the alltrac 3s clutch pressure plate is supposed to be more clamping power than the mr2 one but i cant comfirm that. The alltrac and MR2 pressure plates have the same part number in the EPC. I'd say thats a rumor. -------------------- Scott

I did that Lagos, i read the sticky so many times that i think i can recite it in my sleep
this was what i emailed Spec Hi, a few members from my forum pointed in your direction for the clutch kit that i would require. I'm doing a JDM 3sgte swap into a 6th Gen 5sfe and i'm using the stock 5sfe tranny. I was told that you guys make the 3sgte clutch kit with a 5sfe spline in the disc for this kinda engine swap. What is the estimate cost with shipping if i would require 1 of this hybrid clutch kit outfitted with a stage 3 clutch. And i got this as a reply We manufacture much higher quality parts than Exedy. ! You had asked for a st3 , so that is our 360 degree cnc pressure ring high clamp pressure plate and 6 puck sprung carbon sm disc. The bearings and tool are included, too. i was confused, that's y i asked. I know def had his made from Spec, so i was just checking to double confirm. Dont wan to order something and ended up no working. QUOTE(lagos @ Mar 17, 2006 - 11:18 AM) ill just copy and paste myself... FYI Email sent to SPEC: Hi Sales, I'm putting a 3sgte (90-93 celica all-trac) and using a manual tranny for the '94 5sfe. I'm told these will be the parts I require: 5sfe clutch disk (or a custom made 3sgte disk, with the splines for the 5sfe tranny) 5sfe throwout bearing 5sfe alignment tool 3sgte pressure plate Can you please provide the part numbers for these various parts so that when I'm ready to buy them, I can do so easily. Many thanks in advance, Chanh Response: It is a custom kit, ST6215S for st1, ST6225S for st2, ST623H5S for st2+, etc., doing them for the same price as the 3S units, too. So Chanh, those are the parts numbers for the individual components of one clutch, or the parts numbers for the different levels/stages of hybrid clutches they offer??

It looks like PN's for the whole kit... he puts "etc." as if we can figure out the other part numbers for the different stages.... but I'm not too sure I can. His contact info is there, someone should contact him to get a better response maybe. |
